Super 8 demonstration DVD

Today, from the widescreen centre, i recieved their Super 8 demonstration DVD.

It shows example footage from all the kodak stocks.

I have only shot one roll of K40, but i havnt watched it yet cos i dont have a projector
i always thought that K40 would a bit 60s home movie-ish, but on this DVD it looks amazing!, So bright and crisp and really professional looking! i cant wait to really get shooting with this stuff now. woohoo!

The ektachrome footage and vision 200 is all timelapse mainly. Tri-x looks amazing, i definatly wanna test this film out, but the plus x looks really dull and uninteresting compared.

This is a cool DVD if u wanna check out what super 8 looks like, or if u wanna try out the other filmstocks.

Although it has an awful rendition of Moonlight Sonata as a soundtrack!! the guys at the widescreen centre may have a very nice shop, but they're crap editors!!

PS there is lots of cinemascope footage too.

I just received my first K40 roll in 21 years and it looks fantastic! So much more improvement from the 60's and 70's. From what I can tell, a whole different league.

If shot right, it could rival 16mm.

i agree, from what ive seen ive seen of modern day K40, you could easily mistake it for 16mm.

I wonder if 16mm Kodachrome looks like 35mm??

Hey Sonic Truth,

You don't have a projector. That's a real shame. I have just got back I think my 9th roll and it is so exciting as other people have said. If you didn't buy a projector because of cash I can recommend Bart Sanders as a source of relatively inexpensive equipment. I have bought two cameras (Nizo something, and Bauer 209 XL-S) for Ã¢â€šÂ¬65 or something and a projector for less than that and had good results. He's registered here so if you send him a message I'm sure he'll respond. Only thing is he lives in the Netherlands (fine for me as I can drive up from Belgium) but he does post. Nice, really helpful guy.

35mm pro film would look like a home movie if shot by an average person in the street.

K40 looks simply stunning, even better on projection than on Jake's DVD.

That DVD is very short but it adequately shows some of the results you can achieve with good equipment and technique, and gave me some ideas too.

thanks for the advice musically, i eally wanna get a projector, but more than that id like to find someone in the UK who does workprinter transfers, so i can edit on video.

I use a WorkPrinter but NTSC analog is all that I can do at present. My final products become SVCD disks that do play on my Pal tv, it plays both ntsc and pal.
