good projector with single frame advance.

Post by wado1942 »

I'd like to get another projector, preferably one with sound and a single frame advance on it. Do you guys have any recommendations? I want to use it for home transfers and I also plan to modify it to show THE ENTIRE fram including perfs to be used as an optical printer as well.

Thanks.

You dont say which format you want, but if its not S8 you could track down one of the Specto analysing projectors. They were intended for scientific use and consisted of a standard 16mm projector with a remote controlled single frame advance option. They come up occasionally on ebay. They were made for 16mm but Specto parts are easily interchangable so it would do for 9.5mm and standard 8 as well. They dont have sound, but for home transfers I would have thought they would be ideal.

Yeah, I need S-8. I already have a decent Bell & Howell on which I've cut the gate larger to allow me to frame the whole image but I really need something with sound now and I'd like a single frame advance on it.

Thanks for the idea though.

You will probably have to be open to getting two projectors to fit your two needs, since sound at single frame would never "work" anyway (meaning, you won't hear the sound). In other words, it sounds like you need a projector with single frame advance, period, which you can probably find. And it sounds like you also want a sound projector, period, which should be easy to find. Maybe you'll find one that does both, but as long as your are open to separate functions it will probably serve your quest.

OK, thanks. The most important thing right now is a projector with sound but in the future, I'd want to try shooting opticals and in that case, there would be no need for sound. In fact, my only reasoning for a single frame advance projector is to ensure that all frames are precisely scalable between the projector and camera.
