Cinevia 50D/Spectra 50 D - what about your experiences?

Post by Juergen »

smallformat asks for your experiences with the new products of GK-Film (Cinevia with Velvia 50D) and Spectra Velvia 50 D? Who has already tested the film stock inside the Kodak cartridges? What are the results? Would you use it again?

I have shot one Velvia cartridge from Spectra Film and Video a few month ago.
I found no problems with the perforations. It was shot on a ex-Beaulieu 4008 (Pro8 Classic) camera.

bye bye

I've used a bunch of it. The film itself blows away K40 and 64T. Very fine grain, and very saturated with good shadow detail. The majority has been stable, but have had couple jams and some jittery carts. The 100D offers nearly the same look, but faster and so far more stable in S8 carts.
100D and Vision 3 please

I've decided to wait before buying any. With GK having trouble meeting demand (in a way a good thing, that it is so popular) and personal circumstances this year meaning I have not shot much film its just not been a high priority to try the 50D.
The government says that by 2010 30% of us will be fat....I am merely a trendsetter :)

Cinevia

Post by ulrichbusse »

I just shot one cinevia in a single8 cartridge with my lovely P2 Zoom. The result is fantastic, I don't miss the K40.

About the super8 cartridge of cinevia I heard too much of trouble with. I will wait with it until Mr. Klose find a solution.

Did someone use self-filling cartridges with V50?
I own some "kaccemas" but I am not sure wether I should use it with V50. Wittner offers V50 stock for these cartridges ...

I have never had any trouble with Kaccema cartridges. Just do not ommit the ring on the storage hub. The film may/will loop and lock on the hub and then will lock up the transport. The cartridges have a casted metal chromed plate which should be a recommendation for some.

Is Cinevia actually being delivered? I thought Andec and Wittner were retailing it but there is no trace on their websites.
Kind regards,

André

Look at this:

http://www.wittner-kinotechnik.de/katal ... _meter.php

It's self-filling V50 stock.

In super8 cartridges it is not available. GK has trouble with the cartridges, I think.

Aren´t these from the same source as the Wittner empty ones? Euh, Kodak.
Which are not refillables or something. Before you spend Euro 15 on these. :)

Those images are great! Is there a way you can post smaller clips?

BTW, I think I have a crush on your lead actress!

Hi,
I have used 3 cartridges Cineva so far with excellent results.
However, all catridges were jamming the camera the first few meters. This was so frustrating as I had to take out the film out of the camera many times and spoiled 1/3 of the film. I will wait ordering again till I hear that this problem has been solved. Sorry Mr. Klose !
