Torn sprocket holes + WorkPrinter = Perfect video transfer!

Hi all! Just had a transfer job on the DV8 that was quite challenging. The client had some irreplacable film from the very early 60's that had every single sprocket hole torn and wanted to see if we could restore it. It had not been viewed since the 60's when the offending projector did the original damage. I scratched my head and, facing the very real prospect of registering every frame by hand (believe me, I've done it), I had a sudden fit of inspiration!

Here is how to transfer film with torn sprocket holes and get perfect registration. 99% of the time, the sprockets are torn on the bottom while the top is in perfect shape. So all you have to do is run the film through tails first so that you can use the top side of the sprocket hole. This will make the image upside down and backwards but that is easily fixed in Premier.

So that's what I did and it worked flawlessly. Of course, it will work the same way on either the WorkPrinter or the WorkPrinter-Pro as they transfer the same as the DV8, frame by frame. Anyway, just thought I'd share.
