MY shorts CD

Post by studiocarter »

Finally, I got a product done. The web site of mine also finally has the film transfer section up and running nicely, at least for a start, and I wanted to post a real product. No pun intended :)

This is a CD that plays movies using Windows Media Player. It only plays on a computer monitor. It is 698MB in size. There are all in all 1 hour 15 minutes and 6 and 2/3 seconds worth of movies to watch and listen to on it. Most are my own things. Some are transferred home movies other people have made. They are included to show various techniques in THAT art; the last of which uses Rogers' WorkPrinter2 machine. That clip shows the full frame including sprocket holes and frame lines on the top and bottom. The images fill the frame fully left to right but not so top to bottom. It is a .mpg file made for VCD.

File formats vary. There are .avi and .mpg files. There are VCD sizes and SVCD ones. You gotta use winDVD to prime Windows Media Player so you can see the SVCD ones. They were encoded to 480x480 but display at 720x540! Some avi files are small and some some are large, from 160 to 640. Only one is 160. Sizes are evenly split between the 300 sizes and the 600 sizes. All of the files played off my CD drive directly.

Only one or two had some difficulty keeping sync off the CD drive. They play best not enlarged to full screen or best yet off the hard drive.

All the files are tucked into one folder so it may be copied to the hard drive in one click. Inside the folder is one htm file called index.htm. Just click on that and a page of 31 medium sized images shows up. Each is linked to the movie for it. Click on any image to play the movie in the pop up Windows Media Player.

I have no idea if this works on a MAC.

You will need winDVD to prime WMP for SVCD file playback, but there are only two of them.

Subject matter is a rambling collection of a lifetime of art work and many years of film exploration and teaching samples. Tutorials, slide shows, R8, S8, Hi-8, VHS, scans, transfers, narration, Goko Telecine secret lab method of single frame capturing, titles, transitions, editing samples, film school projects are just too many to list here.

Detailed notes, pictures, will be posted on my web site soon.

This is my show reel and much much more. It is of interest to film / animation teachers and for art teachers and media instructors and film art students, or guys like me.

I think I'm gonna sell them for $5 each CD. Postage extra. That's less then one manual that was photocopied. (those will be offered next week) hee hee

The pictures have been put up on my web site along with the above article.

Links won't work since the movies are only gonna be on CD disks.
Some of them are on line here on this site. See other posts.
