I wish I could speak french (I am learning though), those sites are great. The french seem to keep a low profile on these forums which is a shame because their cinema is probably the best in the world.
thanks AJ for bringing these site to our attention.
Well, it is by forummember super8france and it was mentioned aside a bit in one of the threads. Just thought to give it a bit of projection time in a thread of its own.
actually there is a group of discution on the super8france website... I'm taking part of it and it's quite interresting. Freddy is a nice guy. He doesn't speak a good english, so you should be kind with him! He does his best to promote super 8 here in France. He's the owner of a shop in Lille (nord of France) and is a quite busy man.
BTW : I wrote the article on the cameras. I was a bit helped by Juergen's book in fact...

It's because the French are extremely proud of their language and loathe the idea that English has become the global language of choice and will often refuse to speak it/ translate French pages into it even if they can understand the language.
An English speaking tourist who does not at least attempt to speak French when in France will be met with blank stares. However if trying (no matter how poorly) to speak the national language, the response will be more friendly and sympathetic (and possibly even in English!).
That said, we British are just as bitter because of the fact that global English has American spellings!

Your comment is misplaced and your assessment is completely archaic.
Starting a conversation in a foreign language is just ill mannered.
Travel a bit more and you may find Paris hardly a place to practice your French. If that is good news.
And why do speakers of english think it their right others speak or write in english for their convenience.
