Amazing Stuff!

Here's a web site you all may know about already, but in case you don't, I think it's pretty awesome and really should be of interest to Super Aters!

http://homebuiltstabilizers.com/

Check it out!

Yeah, I've been checking out this site for ages. It is great. It has been a wonder to me that Super8ers on this forum aren't into building dollies etc. I would like to build a four wheeled poor man's western dolly one day, using small BMX wheels :) I had thought about skate-wheel track dollies, but they look like a pain to set up.

Know what you Mean

I agree: a dolly and a decent crane are on my list of to-dos. But what's really caught my eye are the "steadicam" style stablizers as those can really provide benefits to the lone gunman, I mean shooter. There was some "hand held" samples there made with such stabilizers and they really looked good. Now for the video tap and min-lcd and some follow focus and we are cooking with big-boy tools!

I have been thinking building some kind of stabilizers for some time......... I mean, with the small size of super 8 cameras, alot of hand held footage can turn out a bit shaky. I think if you are gonna make a short film, stabilizers / dollys / mini cranes are essential to get stable and interesting looking shots.

Maybe one day I'll get round to it.
