Ballpark figures of min. lux ratings for s8 cameras

Regarding your conversation of min. illumination, here's a table that gives you approximate value of min. required lux for proper exposure - on different cameras and films.

This table is calculated from min. f-stop and shutter degree.
Viewfinder loss and f-T stop difference (lens loss) are approximated.

These values are for 24fps, tungsten light (no 85 filter). On daylight you don't have to worry, you have 100.000 lux open face spot overhead.

For reference: Regular office lighting is abt. 200-300 lux. Desks are 250-500 lux. Home lighting is mostly <300 lux, industrial and public spaces abt. 200-300.

960 / 240 / 190 lux - Beaulieu 6/7008: f1.4, 144 deg.

1 460 / 360 / 290 lux - Beaulieu 4008: f1.4, 100 deg.

1 990 / 500 / 400 lux - Leicina Special: f1.4, 165 deg.

2 400 / 600 / 480 lux - Beaulieu 4008: f1.8, 100 deg.

Can one use a video camera on location to help determine the f-stop for their super-8 camera? Would it be fair to say that a video camera has between a 250 ASA to 500 ASA rating with a shutter of 1/60th?
