Beaulieu 4008 with sync ?!

Post by andredigital »

Hi,

i want to know if it is possible to modify the Beaulieu 4008 camera to run more stable? Also i want to know if the camera can be modified to run with exact 25fps?

I found a picture showing the 4008 ZM II with the "Syncro-Pilot-Modul" pluged in and wired to a device called "EMDE Pilotton Test device" which shows the camera speed on the left side and the battery indicator on the right side.
Does anybody use or know this setup?

thanks,
André

I shot a feature film called In My Image with a crystal synched 4008 ZMII at 25fps - we got it synched at The Film Group.

Here's a few links about it all:

Contact Björn Andersson, Beaulieu Sweden: bjorn.andersson@brevet.nu

He can add crystal sync to Beaulieu cameras.

...so what is the cost?

When I send my 4008 back to Bjorn for servicing I might ask for two upgrades: external battery pack for AAs and the crystal sync. Any idea what he is charging for both the battery and crystal? Also, I want to run 23.97 for NTSC not 25fps for PAL...Can he do the NTSC sync? (assuming I actually know what I'm talking about..)

Bjorn, are you on the forum these days?

Good call on the 23.976. I wish TFG was doing that instead of solid 24.

I don't know if Bjorn's is in the camera or external. Which is it??

Either way I will give The Film Group a really high endorsement. They did a great job with my 4008.

Good Luck

I'm not familiar with that particular model, but I have shot sync sequences with a Bealieu R 16 fitted with a syncro pilot module. This is a cable sync system, just basically records the speed changes for later resolving, not really a good system.Crystal is much better, although you still have the task of silencing the camera's noise.Beaulieu's aren't quiet.
