I've got one like that, a Keystone toy projector. It has no shutter, just pulls the film thru the geneva mechanism. Coke bottle glass lens. Mine would scratch any film that passed through it. But it "could" work if I insisted.
It also has no sound capability. In short, it makes for a nice display piece or as a prop, but I would never entrust any film I valued to running it through that projector. I once owned a DeVry suitcase 35mm silent projector. It was very much advanced over the Keystone, but I still could not bring myself to run any film through it because of its design and build which was murder on the fragile acetate film.
