You need a lathe...(snip)
Does this mean you start with a solid block of plastic and use the lathe to hollow out the tube?
I was thinking of checking out the local hardware-store for pvc plastic piping and such to see if I can't find something more durable than cardboard.

Yes.

With a lathe and a big 25mm drill the job is done in five minutes.
Then precision turning with a bit (a chisel?), of cource.

But the plastic tube is the way to go for you, if you do not have a lathe.

SLIDE PROJECTOR LENS TELE CINE-IMPRESSED

Post by JEFF »

HI THERE, I am a new member here , and was very impressed with the results you obtained using a simple slide projector lens in place of the original projector lens. to tele cine .I have been a film enthusiast for many years and have converted my many 9.5mm and standard 8mm films to DVD using the point to wall method. But have always been unsatisfied with the results always looking at ways to improve them.
So you have really wetted my appetite and I am now converting my Eumig 607D projector using the film tightening micro switch triggering method, and changing lamp house to 12 volt 20 watt halogen with opaque filter. Already obtained a beautiful Kodak EKTANON LENS F /3.5 4" (112MM) slide projector lens from a 1950's single frame slide projector, and have removed from the outter bakelite barrel, ready for my next expermental focusing stage. May I say I am already hooked on this great site ,the members contributions are so very interesting.

Thanks to all of you for your kind words.

Good others are testing this, and with other lenses. My Will Wetzlar 85mm was the first I came across, and is close to what was suggested.

Would a slide zoom lens be a smart choice? (don't know)
What focal length is ideal?
