just got this 1014E and it looks great! camera sounds good and everything seems to work.
only one thing i dont get: the lever (1) is in the "blue" position. in the manual it states that "orange" would be the standard. and the small button (2) is in pressed down position.
i already ran some film through but the switch (1) didnt jump back to orange and the variable shutter controll wheel doesnt move (should it?)
it looks like the camera is in rewindmode?
as you see i am totally new to canon modells - until now i only had some eumigs...but i thought i should get a reliable camera!
should i try to send the camera back or is there a possibilty to fix this. maybe its just a small thing.
thank you guys. i ran the motor in unlooked mode but the lever did not snap back. (is this only working with film inside?)
and the little silver button is pressed down - it should come out back shouldnt it - maybe the button is stuck?
shouldnt the shutter control wheel move when you shift the fade button up or down? i´m clueless...really
Hello,
I also had problems to unterstand this complicated system. What you have to do is unlock the button "lock" located on the right of the lever to its orange position. Turn the wheel to "O" position. Make sure the silver button is pressed down and them run the cam for 1-2 min, it should be ok.
If necessary, drop me a mail @ allarda@wanadoo.fr, I'll send you the manual.
Have fun with your camera !
sorry guys for bringing this up again
i tried everything you guys recommended to me, but it didnt change the situation. as i have 3 charts of k40 left and a few holy/days in the near future, i just want to know if i could shoot with this camera. although this §&$-lever is in the "blue" position. it doesnt snap back although i ran the cam for 3 minutes with the "lock" lever in "orange" position and the silver button pressed down. the lever stays "left/blue" and the silver button stays in "pressed" mode.
any more suggestions? i would really like to use this cool camera..
thanks biko
ps: do you know somebody in europe how checks or even repairs canon cameras?
pps: EtiN - thank you very much - i have a manual already, but it doesnt help in this case.
Assuming the indicators are still in their blue positions:
1) with the camera on, rotate the shutter dial to the rewind position and the camera should rewind and run backwards automatically and stop, leave the shutter dial at the closed position.
2)Press the camera trigger again and the shutter dial should slowly return to the top position with shutter fully open and the sliding switch on the right in your picture should automatically click and return to the orange position.
If this doesn't work the camera is probably jammed in this dissolve position.
thank you very much BK
i followed your instructions but it didnt work. all levers, dials and buttons stayed in their position - nothing moved (or does it only work with film inside?)
so i think the thing is jammed - will it be possible to shoot with the camera, as i do not need this dissolves feature, or will it not work properly?

It works even without film, the blue indicator returning to orange with that particular switch.
Shouldn't affect your normal filming, the jammed button is for rewinding mode for trick effects only...check to see if your take up spindle is running normally though in the cartridge chamber because this stops momentarily at the beginning of the double exposure/dissolve cycle for creating the film slack in the super 8 cart for ease of rewinding.
