There has been a lot of discussion about Workprinters lately in this Finnish Small gauge film forum http://www.digivideo.org/forum/list.php?f=14
because there are now three workprinters in Finland. Must be the highest density in the world compared to population.

Anyway all three workprinter operators use some special cleaning cloth and isopropyl alcohol. They buy the isopropyl alcohol from the local pharmacy for couple of euros per tiny bottle. Someone said that it could be found a lot cheaper in some automobile chemicals, but there is a risk that it contains some other chemicals too that may damage the films.

What I have seen, the cleaning results have been excellent.

Cleaning

I too have heard that isopropyl alcohol works well for cleaning films. However, it has a much slower drying time than some other cleaners. For that reason, you would have to turn the film much more slowly to allow time for it to dry.

Today I made a test and put isopropyl more than normally to the cloth, because it seems to evaporate quickly. The result was, that I got orange spots to the beginning of the film :-( It works well when using economically...
