Kodak's position on the Fortune 500 list

Post by film_idaho »

I was reading this month's issue of Fortune which is the annual fortune 500 company listing. Eastman Kodak sat at 155 spot with revenues of 14,278,000 million dollars (54% of its revenue is attributed for digital products/services). Last year they were also the 155th company on the list. Untouched.

Although on page F-21 Fortune put Eastman Kodak in the "money losers" category with a loss of 1,362,000 million dollars.

But Kodak is the leader (number 1) in their industry (Scientific, Photographic, and Control Equipment). (Page F-61)

And when ranked with other companies in the state of New York Fortune says they are number 25 out of 55. (Page F-39)

I am not here to promote or condemn Eastman Kodak. I just thought I would share what Fortune had to say. But on a personal note I think things look up for Kodak considering they are embracing both sides of the coin the digital and tradition imaging. :D

Alex

On another side note in the past 6 months Eastman Kodak (EK) has been up 30%. Eastman Kodak is currently selling at $27.11 (1:42PM ET) (4/28/2006).

Kodak: The best of both worlds.

Change is challenging, but necessary. I've been with Kodak for 36 years. "Film is Dead" has been proclaimed by pundits since Ampex introduced 2-inch videotape recording in 1956. Yet 2005 was a record year for motion-picture FILM sales. As Mark Twain once wrote: "Rumors of my death have been greatly exaggerated".

FWIW, as mentioned, over half of Kodak's revenue now comes from digital imaging. In motion-picture, Kodak is very involved in Digital Cinema, and digital post-production, such as digital special effects and in producing Digital Cinema Distribution Masters for feature films. Kodak scanning technology is at the heart of the Thomson Spirit telecine, used for mastering most Digital Cinema features in the past seven years.

Kodak's business is IMAGING, whether it is film or digital.

Yes, the 2005 revenue was over 14 BILLION dollars (USD). Imaging is still a nice business, both film and digital.

Sorry for the miss print John. The text in the magazine is rather small. I was just trying to enrich this board with information about the company providing the majority of Super 8.

Jesus Christ on a stick sooper8fan has some real problems. You need to chill your ass down. Besides the fucking sig is a joke. Grow up.

I hate to intrude with facts, but "14,278,000 million" is not billions either. It would be over 14 trillion ;) I assume the assume the actual number must have been "14,278 million" or something like that.

Umm... the Fortune 500 is a list of American companies, so interpret their "number 1" sales position within that context.

If you're going to judge things by the numbers, Fujifilm had revenues of 2,527,300,000,000 Yen last year - about US$22.2 Billion.
