Hi folks,
Is it possible to take apart the lens from a 1014 or 814 XL-S to clean the inside? I mean, the older 814 models have little screws on the focusing ring, but the XL-S versions don't.
Any suggestions?

Re: Taking apart lens from 1014 XL-S
Sometimes you have to start from the front of the lens, and remove the retaining ring. Special tools may be required. I have used a pair of "splayed" [wider than the lens-front diameter] medical tweezers, with the points fitted to the slots on the retaining ring. If the tweezers jump out of the slots while under pressure, you might put a nice scratch right across the front element...super8camera.com wrote:Hi folks,

Mostly, anything that was put together can be taken apart. Question is, do you have the time/patience/tools, and can you put it back together in working order?
