If you're already going to come up to the L.A. area, why not buy the film directly from Kodak? If I recall, they're located on Las Palmas in Hollywood. Just call ahead and order your film (the phone # and address are on their website), then swing by and pick it up. That's what I do. The service is great and you can't beat the prices (Plus X and Tri X are about $10-$11 a reel). I'm not sure they're open on Saturdays, though.

To the other camera shops already mentioned, add Freestyle Photo in Hollywood (on Sunset between Western and Normandy). They carry Super 8 film too.

Kodak's film order telephone #:

1-800-621-FILM (3456)

Yesterday I ordered 2 rolls each: Plus-X, E64T, 7217, all Super 8. They promised Tuesday afternoon delivery from Hollywood to Washington DC.
