Return of Double 8mm K40?!
I hope this will be true becuase I would really like to buy K40 and use it in my camera since it is a Double-25ft spool camera. It is also really cheap to send out and process it in Kansas, but it will all depend on how much and for how long "they" sell it. *Praying to the Kodachrome Gods 8)*
I haven't talked with John about this, but I had assumed he'd be doing a cinechrome 40 when current stocks of cinechrome 25 run out.
But perhaps sales are so low that even he finds it better to concentrate on selling the other emulsions? Or perhaps Kodak aren't willing to perf the fim?
Just guesses, all of it.

It's not John, its' Kodak that does not want to be involved at any price.Angus wrote:I haven't talked with John about this, but I had assumed he'd be doing a cinechrome 40 when current stocks of cinechrome 25 run out.

I know it's hard to understand a company not wanting to make money.

Don't worry about equipment so much and make your movie!
It is hard to believe that Kodak does not want to be involved at any price. Maybe if what people say is true about Kodak trying to get out of super 8 also, They figure why prolong the difficulty of the task by allowing certain options to linger? On the other hand, if it is not a Kodak decision, I would willingly accept K64 as an alternative. As a last resort, John could always invest in his own equipment like Paul is doing. It may even prove to be more profitable.

At a time when the Chevy Chevette was the best selling car in the world Chevrolet chose to discontinue it in favor of the Geo Metro. Chevy did not think that the Metro would sell better than the Chevette, nor did they believe that they could not make money producing it. They simply believed that they could make MORE money by diverting their production resources to other products.
Likewise Kodak believes they can make MORE money by concentrating on 16mm, 35mm and digital. I firmly believe that some time before 2050 Kodak will discontinue producing film altogether.
