Large old processing machines can't be easily moved, as there is much chemical supply and recirculation plumbing. Labs need to request and pay for any "certification". Not sure it is worth doing, as Super-8 KODACHROME film is no longer made.

Justan, my process paid stuff goes out to Switzerland, but all my non process paid k40 which is sent in paid mailers to Kodak mailer processing is definitely being processed at Dwayne's in Kansas. I'm just wondering why Kodak would be using Dwayne's for processing customers films if they're not up to par?
Personally, I'm happy with what I get back from Dwayne's which is why I think Kodak should keep the k40 mailer processing to Dwayne's going a bit longer after they stop k14 processing in Switzerland..

Re: Regular-8 KODACHROME is 16mm
International Film and sold with processing. I know they went into 2005. They might have gone into 2006 -- I don't remember off the top of my head. 2005 for sure.John_Pytlak wrote:What was the expiration date on that old film? Where did you buy it?kentbulza wrote: What about the K25 in DS8? That was a Kodak packaged product that included processing (and is 16mm width). Will that have an August cut-off or December. Thanks in advance.

Not being a certified Kodak lab doesn't equate to "not up to par." I talked to Grant Steinle (Dwayne's VP) about certification last year. He told me that it would be expensive and wouldn't provide much benefit to them apart from the right to use Kodak logos. He commented that they participate in Kodak's worldwide quality program and have their own internal quality procedures.chachi wrote:I'm just wondering why Kodak would be using Dwayne's for processing customers films if they're not up to par?

Neither was London Bridge but somebody moved it to another continent.John_Pytlak wrote:Large old processing machines can't be easily moved
Could be cut down from a larger format...as long as Kodachrome is available in some size or other...Not sure it is worth doing, as Super-8 KODACHROME film is no longer made.
pipe dream I know but if there was a will there would be a way...
The government says that by 2010 30% of us will be fat....I am merely a trendsetter

I drove my old runabout under the London Bridge on Lake Havasu, AZ some years ago. It was puzzling. Are there no exotic trillionairs into K40 super 8? Angus- I bet you would like 100D more than K40, and have a ball processing it at home. it would be like moving that big machine into your closet. no pipe dream required.Angus wrote:Neither was London Bridge but somebody moved it to another continent.John_Pytlak wrote:Large old processing machines can't be easily moved

100D and Vision 3 please
I fully accept that K40 in super 8 is dead. Its sad, because K'chrome has a look of its own that I happen to love and its archival properties are second to none. But dead it is...or will be soon.
I've got some 64T that I shall try...then 100D...but first I have my stash of K40 to get through before August!

sorry, I was reffering to justans post in this thread regarding the decline in quality being the reason for kodak switching??
Besides, its not like Quality regarding Dwaynes has'nt been mentioned here on this board many times before. I remember some here even stating that they were told over the phone by Kodak Reps about it..
Anyhow, as mentioned I've had no problems with Dwayne's.
I guess what i meant to say was....
I don't know why kodak is using a company that is not certified to process my super8 films.
jusetan wrote:Kodak in Canada used to send their film to Dwaynes, but that was 'moot' (as mitch would say ;) ) soon after they realized that the quality control wasn't up to standard...

Because it's basically an advertising gimmick. Like buying a "certified" used car. :lol:chachi wrote:I don't know why kodak is using a company that is not certified to process my super8 films.
The advantage for certified labs is that they get to run cheesy ads like this one, and they have to put out a lot of money and staff time to get the certification. It makes sense if you're trying to stand out from a hundred other labs, but when you're the only Kodachrome lab on the continent there isn't much point
