canon C8 wide angle?

hi,
is there anybody in vienna (austria) or in the area, who owns a canon c8 wide angle attachment for the 1014e (i think its 58mm)?
i would rent it or buy it. problem is, i need it friday evening at the latest.

You may want to start now looking for defunct overhead/opaque projectors or enlargers; if you dismantle the lens, you'll find that one of the elements is a nice wide angle. This element can be mounted on a step-up ring or round glass filter ring using contact cement. If you're lucky, you can find a holder/ring deep enough to accomodate the wide element and use the original retainer ring.

As a bonus, the other elements in said lenses can be used as 1:1 and extreme close-up attachments, mounted the same way as described
above.

The wideangle fit into a closeup holder [the original element was too weak], and the closeup fit sandwiched between two filter rings. Oops, just realised - the holder and effect pics are diagonal to each other...

you are right - i should look for alternatives now. the chance to get an attachment in austria by posting on a norwegian forum isnt that big, but you know...
your idea is great, if i find a overheadprojector the problem is solved, thanks.
another short question. i have one of this eumig PMA's, they have smaller filterthreads, so if i "attach" it on the canon i get a little vignetting on the left upper and lower edges. do i really get what i see in the viewfinder or is the picture different. i cannt do anything in post because the film is for projection.

You're very welcome.
You will get the vignetting you see in the VF, yes.
Unfortunately, since these attachments [wideangle, not closeup, which does allow zooming] require macro-in-the-wideangle, you cannot zoom past the vignetting. The only solution is to find elements that are larger in diameter than the front element of your camera. Get thee to a garage salery! ~:?)...or ebay...
