Cart #1 is in the mail to Santa Monica. Heres my set up this afternoon.

As you can see I like making camera stuff and have had a good time doing it since I was about 15. The focus stick is added to the 1014 using a brass collar and an o-ring lock. Note the home made remote switch housed in some aluminum pipe. The matt box is a modified Lindahl and I masked it off like a widescreen shot. I made the masks out of aluminum, painted them flat black and polished the paint off the edge to see if I can simulate a silver bar at the edge of the matt.
I shot with the sun to my back down my lane toward the main road and did some fast motion of the traffic passing by my world. I used a 4 star filter on the last 4 feet. Thanks for everybody getting together to do this. I like feeling connected to the world this way. Im looking forward to putting the music together soon.

Hi Flatwood,
I should send you the graphic art file instead of the jpg.
The jpeg file is only for viewing purpose.. please download the production art files from below for production purpose, which they give more detail and better result.
http://www.lastcoyote.com/paints/artfiles.zip
they are very small and small enough for download(around 360KB), pass them to your T-shirt lady and she knows what to do.
By the way... your setting is great, and I LOVE YOUR BOOTS~!!! I have 2 myself!

flatwood, you rock, man! straight up. THANK YOU for being the first to post some photos. I was hoping more people would do it, but whatever. You've got quite a contraption there! Can you explain to me what the post on your sticks is? Is it to be used instead of a regular tripod head? I'm confused but it looks cool.
And that road behind you there....that thing is screaming "use me in your film".
And with regards to posting photos, I think it's cool to see our forum members. I mean no offense, flatwood, but if I ever saw you in person, I'd never think you shoot Super8....that's so awesome! Just goes to show you can't judge a book by it's cover!
And yes, praise be to flatwood for his quick turnaround! Looking forward to seeing your footy.
p.s. I dig your DIY remote switch, I made one that's very similar for my Minolta XL601 (minus the aluminum "detonator" housing).

Great pics FLATWOOD... well done for posting out so fast. Its also great to know that cart 3 is back from Oz and in Europe... getting closer to my 10 feet. I feel the project really racing downhill now... i also think there are going to be different seasons in there, what with winter passing, spring not far away... and isn't it still summer in Oz?
very exciting.

Thank you for your kind comments, I hoped you would appreciate the pics. Thats part of the fun anyway. You always have to have a still photog on the set even if its yourself!!! I started using the "contraption" some time back when I realized that a regular tilt head moves the film plane as it tilts the camera up and down.
The contraption attaches to the heavy aluminum upright (a part used in the Cranes and Booms I used to make there should still be a link still at http://flatwoodstudio.com ) in line with the center of the film gate horizonally. I don't do any actual moving head panning with this rig. Plus, its all in having fun with the format. To be honest, my favorite thing about super 8 is the convenience of the cartridge. I understand the technical limitations and drawbacks and I love the way the film translates to video - the lights and colors are magic.
Well, Ive gotta run and might not be back online for a few days. Im hoping to get phones installed tomorrow but they also told me two weeks to get to it, so I dont know.
LC, I sent Judy the link to the hi res graphics. Im on a dial up and try to avoid downloads at all costs. I requested the best quality, thick, soft 100% cotton t-shirts. And as you know, you cant be a cowboy without the boots!!!
And remember, its you guys who absolutely ROCK. Im just a passenger on the train!!

Hay, Im online from south Georgia. They folks at Citizens Telephone Co., maybe the smallest independent phone co. in the world hooked the cabin up yesterday evening. Still a dialup but will get DSL service once I move.
johnnhud, I hope you're not in the way of those north Texas fires I've been seeing on the news. Have a good shoot and post some pics if you can.

Wow, I'm really impressed with this whole project and wish I could have been a part of it.
I'm 15 and have been trying to get into filmmaking. You guys seem to embody exactly what I'd like to be some day and I consider it a real honor to have made contact with you - if only through the internet.
I'd like to see the finished project, will you be posting movies online or will a DVD be available or what?

Hi TronX, welcome to the board. The plan for "Pass the Cart" will be to show the film on line and if possible make a dvd version available. The project as you can tell is at the halfway point with regards to shooting, so still a bit of work to do yet. Keep checking here for updates and look out for Nathan's project "Super8 Cities"
