Which BW S8 films have an anti-halation layer?

Post by phildil »

quick question...

which BW super 8 films have an anti-halation (remjet) back layer? I'm looking to home-process the newer Tri-X and the outdated Quarzchrome stock that is sold cheap (GBP2.50/cart!) by the Widescreen Centre in London. I'm using a Lomo 15m tank.

any ideas? and if the remjet is there, how can I remove it? by using a borax solution before processing?

Of the current Kodak films, only KODACHROME and most films for the ECN-2 process have a carbon rem-jet layer. On the other films (including B&W), halation protection is provided in other ways (dyed support, antihalation dyes in the emulsion, etc.).

The old 4-X reversal had a silver antihalation layer, as does Fomapan. It's not remjet, rather a silver layer which is removed in the bleach stage of reversal processing.

Tri-X and Plus-X have no backing layers.

The two color Single-8 films both have a rem jet. I'm not certain about the re-rolled Orwo stock Retro sells, but I think it does not have a rem jet.

E64T and other films for the E-6 color reversal process do NOT use rem-jet.
