Film titles off an LCD, how does it look???

Post by supa_ate_sixteen »

I am planning a 16mm film coming up. I was curious if anyone has shot any film format using an LCD monitor like the Apple HD display. I want to do Black background with white titles over that. I want nice contrast like titles you see made at labs. Can I get close to that with a combination of shooting with a wide open f-stop and say 500t or something like that?

All comments appreciated :D

It should work. I tried this myself recently: didn't get much contrast but I was working with K40 S/8 at 9 fps. If you can use much faster film sensitivity, it should be very practicable.

Good luck

What a coincidence!

I'm going to shoot some titles this way today. I've got a 17" LCD monitor that can be calibrated to 9300 or 6500º K and I'm planning to shoot some color titles too with my Canon 1014 XL-S... Keep you informed about the results.

Hi, I'm new to this forum. I'm Ralph in Chicago. I have done this. I create animated titles in Flash and film off the apple studio display. I used k40 it ends up slightly darker.
