C-mount wide angle primes for Super-8?
Did a search on this topic before posting but I could not dig anything up.
Does something like a 5mm C-mount prime for super-8 exist?
If so where and for how much?

There is some Fuji lens for the ZC1000. Isn't it 5.6mm? It takes up to € 500 I remember.
You might research CCTV lenses. Make sure it has the proper C-mount and leaves enough space for the mirror and such.
Also you could experiment with Webcam lenses but I expect these leave too little space. And quality on the cheap ones isn't too good.

It does not work. H8RX C-mount is a non-standard C-mount.Seppo.T wrote:How would the 5,5 C-mount Switar for H8RX perform on C-mount super8?
What would nicely work is the same lens on an H8-RX converted to DS8.
So, we have:
The H-8Rex Switar 5.5mm strictly on H-8Rex converted to DS8, and
Other standard C-mount wide angle lenses that work:
1. Angenieux 5.9mm lens, and
2. Schneider Kreuznach Xenoplan 6.5mm. This is the holy grail of wide angle lenses. Originally made for up to 1" pick up tubes, it covers up to S16 8O If you can find this lens that is

Of course, this is in addition to the Fujica 5mm lens that is used with the Fujica ZC-1000
Another idea is to use the Schneider Kreuznach C-mount 10mm lens (the model that was made for 1" pick up tubes and belongs to the same series as the other Schneider above). It has a front lens filter thread of 55mm. You can get a 55mm > 67mm step up adapter and use the Canon C8 wide angle adapter with it. The beauty of this 10mm lens is that it covers the S16 frame like the Xenoplan above.

The Century Super Cinetar 3.5mm is a near-fisheye on 16mm, should be pretty wide angle on Super 8, and should focus on a Beaulieu.

The Fujinon 5.5mm would be ideal, it's really a great lens if you can find one.npcoombs wrote:Did a search on this topic before posting but I could not dig anything up.

Or a C-Mount CCTV prime lens with a wide angle adaptor from digital or dv cameras would work for ultra wide shots without burning a hole in your pocket. I have a Cosmicar 6mm and a 0.7 wide adaptor for a dv camera, works great.

How about this one?

You'll have to work the lens mount issue.

Well it is 10% of the focal length but indeed not much.Nigel wrote:How is the 5.5 any better than the 6mm that he already has??
Good Luck
The Schneider lenses take the Schneider Ultra Wide Lenses UWL III and these are probably the best way to quickly get a reliable wide angle.
And not too difficult to find.
Kind regards,
André

Does anyone know anything about this lens?--
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/control ... sku=404277
Fujinon 4mm f:2.2 C-mount manual lens for 1/3-inch 3-ccd industrial cameras. Seems like it should work for super-8.
They also make a 2.8mm/f:2.2.
