Night and Day sensor, 7.5 / 15 / 30 minutes select, Night and Day select... whatelse can I say?
If you know what I mean, you will understand this picture!
By the way, I spend only 15 bucks on it... US dollar of course
One of the most brilliant stupid ideas ever! So the thing has enough power to depress the release cable, when attached to camera?
Simple external intervalometer has been a longtime on/off quest, pun intended.
Brilliant.

i can't quite make out how it's working....can you explain it a little bit more in depth? Thanks!
This is such a great idea and like most great ideas is so simple it makes you wish you'd thought of it yourself. Damn.
It's a simple auto dispenser for air freshener, which does a spray of air freshener every 7.5, 15, or 30 minutes during the hours of daylight, it has as the diagram shows: a sensor for daylight, a timer circuit, and a cam which presses down on the nozzle of the can of air freshener.
Replace the can of air freshener with a mechanical cable release...
forgive me if I'm just totally missing something, but what is the signifigance of the day/night sensor?
I'm surprised that it has enough strength to push the cable release! I gotta try it out one of these days. Great idea lastcoyote!
Okay, I admit it, I placed this thing in my toilet for couple of months and it amazed me when its power last for 2 months and counting. I’ve been thinking about it every morning when I sitting in my toilet. It does spray every 30 minutes to keep the smell good. Maybe it can press the shutter for me. So I scarify the smell of it and set the cable shutter in it.
Yes it works and it has enough power to depress the shutter of my Canon & Nizo, but doesn’t work on K-3 16mm. It last a couple of seconds of depress action. So when I attach it to the camera, also have to set the camera to single frame. Or capture 2 second of frames every 15 minutes??!!
One of the best feature is, it can detect the light; it can be set to operate only at night, or at daytime by its light sensor. Of course can set it runs 24 hours too. So it would be great function if I went out for vacation, set the camera at home and capture the view outside the balcony, it only work when it has enough light outside... something like that.
It can select the minutes to a frame per every 7.5 minutes, a frame per every 15 minutes, a frame per every 30 minutes. If it attached to my Nizo; I can have a 30 minutes time exposure timer. Super!!!
It also has a blinking LED to tell me if it is running.
Best of all.. when my toilet start to smell… It never forget it original mission… It service both very important parts of my life!!! HAHAHAHA!
I just named it “Toilet Auto Shutter"
Yes it has enough power to press down the air flesher can, it can press the cable for super 8 camera, but it cannot press my K-3.
No wonder I've read from the paper the other day when someone relaxing, it is when the ideas came from. I'm really relax while I'm sitting on the toilet bowl..

Only shooting in daylight with a 30 minute timer would span about 150 days on 3,600 frames, almost half a year! You could document changing seasons that way! 8O Just like George Pal did in the original Time-machine film.

As long as it doesn't auto-shut what's responsible for the smell...
What next, filming on toilet paper? ;)

Hahaha, I tried to get some modified picture of "The Thinker" seated on a toilet in the Web, but I can´t found it!
(Or may be I didn´t look for it too much).
I just love this forum! & love you guys very much!!
To tlatosmd: Yeah that's a good idea.
To Carlos 8mm: Almost the same except I look up the sprayer and let the smell of Lavendar land on my face and burn my eye balls.
I'm thinking go to somewhere far without street lights.. totally dark but the stars... then I can capture a 15 minutes long exposure ... But it will have to wait until summer or I have the vacation & $$$.
It's Jam. I am so excited & happy that you share this idea to everyone.
I am asking your permision of introducing it in my super8mm workshop of Hong Kong Arts Centre.
I also like to spread the name (Toilet Auto Shutter) as TAS timer, among HK and Japanese people, at the same time I will tell people your fun story of how you found this idea.
