Looking for World War I/II footage on 8mm
I was looking around at google and ebay but came up with nothing. Does anyone know when I can get World War I or II footage on regular or super 8? Stock or news footage, anything. Might be pretty rare..
Edit: Found some Vietnam footage, but it was all 16mm. Maybe I should pick up a 16mm projector for cheap on ebay.

Ebay.de is a good hunting ground. A few documentaries on S8 or regular8 shows up all the time. I have not seen this one, but I would bet some pints there is archival footage in this one, too.

Those are some pretty cheap prices on those. Found this are Derann:
D-DAY– 2 x 200’ Standard 8/Silent. § ¥ £6.99. Subtitled “The True Glory†Documentary footage.
This might be interesting. Most of the films I want from Derann or these other sites are "selected scene" only it seems
Thanks.

If you're looking for original footage shot during WWI or II on S8, it doesn't exist. S8 was invented in 1965, while R8 was in 1932 (so no WWI footage at all).

But I do know of some fine color! 1940's R8 footage.
Actualy, I have the clips right here, but I have no permission to show them. It's from the US, no war scenes. Quality is unbelievable.
So there is a chance to find even some colored footage about WWII.

Hi,
you might search for "Antlitz des Krieges" (available as 6x 120m b/w sound by "Atlas" and as 6x 70m b/w sound by "piccolo film").

There are several other Super8-films about the first and second world war - just search for "Weltkrieg" or "Vom Kaiserreich zur Republik" as "Titel" here:

I guess that some of these films have been released in English by "Castle Films" or "Universal 8", too.

Is there a significant reason that one sounds a lot like Vom Kaiserhof zur Reichskanzlei, Goebbels's autobiography? :?jpolzfuss wrote:There are several other Super8-films about the first and second world war - just search for [...] "Vom Kaiserreich zur Republik" as "Titel" here:

No, it's a "neutral" documentation consisting of news-reels and other footage from the end of the German empire (incl. footage from WWI) and the begining of the German republic.tlatosmd wrote:Is there a significant reason that one sounds a lot like Vom Kaiserhof zur Reichskanzlei, Goebbels's autobiography? :?jpolzfuss wrote:There are several other Super8-films about the first and second world war - just search for [...] "Vom Kaiserreich zur Republik" as "Titel" here:

I got some Castle Films 16mm newsreels off eBay a couple years back, including their 1939 Year in Review, showing French troop deploying along the Maginot Line. Bought a box of 400' films for about $25.camera8mm wrote:Castle films distributed a number of fillms on WWII on 8mm. I think they were the "news of the world" short reels originally shown in theaters on 35mm before the feature film and simply reduced to 8mm.
