Lot of good points to consider, many valid concerns.

However, there seems to be very little to lose in this endevor. I'm not sure everything in life has to whittled down to a fine point. This is, after all, a fun project. I sometimes feel that people tend to overwork some ideas. If frames are lost in transfer, or other problems arise, so be it. Problems can be resolved.

Not every film has to be mapped out like a war. Maybe just do it like improv jazz, just basic guidelines to follow and see what happens.

Back in the day, my friends and I were interested in writing. We'd pick a theme (i.e. What is revealed.) and meet up in a few weeks to see what we came up with. There would be poems, essays, or a little dramatic monologs written on the theme. Sometimes crap, sometimes gold, but always interesting.

I agree... but i would be worried that "let's do something cool?" = ££$$

If its going to involve lots of people and little of their time... it has to be simple. Unless we give the shoot a theme??... wildlife... nature... city... street... people??? i don't know, thinking out loud.
I agree with you, let's think of a theme and everybody have their 20 seconds to shoot. Mojohey! why not set a poll and vote for a theme that most people want to join with.?

Some day, someone's gotta collect all that international 'last K40 supplies celebration' footage (as long as it's subject-related material) of 2005 and 2006 on a DVD, or on a set of DVDs.

What a beautiful project, let's enter it without being overwhelmed by too many technical problems: X-ray, burnt frames, who cares?
I definitely agree with joe gioielli POV!
Can be a sweet farewell to k40 (sigh)
PM me please, I'd like to play too.
bye livio, from milano-italy

I have a suggestion....

To avoid the burnt frames, send out the cart in a dark plastic bag, like the kind that are used to store photographic paper. Then do all camera loading and unloading in total darkness. With a super 8 cart, it's really not all that much trouble, and would save lots of film.

I'd like to participate also...but a 20 second limit seems like too little. I like the idea of 1 cart per person, but I also like the idea of having a theme for the subject. If it's still ends up being a 20 second limit then I'll pass this time. But I wish everybody luck and I hope we're able to see it here!!

I think a theme might be best...but then again there will be 50 people arguing about what theme and before you know it the idea will be dropped.

I'm up for whatever is decided.

I'm willing to participate. Please send me an e-mail.
Good idea. I don't think that we have to make a sophisticated plan. Just think about DADA or surrealism... The most important poems, novels, films were based on dreams, simple thoughts etc.

Superbus_ I like your idea about surrealism, good.

Scott, the changing bag idea is perfect too. Even a black trash bag would work.

Good work!!
