Has anyone used one? I'm thinking about buying one.

Yes. Very quiet camera. And quite a light camera to use. Not pin registered. The one I used was very stable and reliable over a number of shoots. Eyepiece rotates 360 degrees (though viewfinder image also rotates when doing so). Usually a less expensive crystal sych camera. Buy it if you are going to make a few films and can afford it.

A decent little camera...
Make sure you get one with the more powerful motor as well as the ACL mount adaptor so that you don't have to use C-Mount lenses.
Service for them can get tricky since the only parts out there are coming from other cameras or maybe a few NOS parts.
All in all a good camera. However, if you are buying it to shoot only a single project on you may want to rent. Also, Arri SR1 prices are dropping like a rock. You might be able to find one for close to the same price.
Who knows...I own an Aaton And would be happy to share the pros and cons of owning gear.
Good Luck

The only experiences I've had with Eclair ACL & NPR cameras have been troublesome ones. I mean this in the sense of reliability, If you get one be ready to expect issues and servicing every now and then. There are two websites declared to the ACL and NPR with all the info you need about them.
If you can afford it, I would suggest an Aaton LTR or Arri SR instead.

I bought a Super16 ACL of Ebay this summer. It needed a little work so it went to a repair shop. They suggested while they it open, I put in an offical Super16 ground glass (it had a homemade ground glass.) I said ok, but then it took over 5 months to get the ground glass because the only company making them is backed up.
Anyway, ACL can be good cameras. I've used them for 2nd Unit and some 1st unit stuff. They aren't as tough as Arri's but still nice cameras. They're great at fitting in tight places with a 200' mag.
