I sent an email to Kodak about the new 50D super 8 possibilities and got a nice reply a whine back. sounds like they have plans of testing and hopefully bringing it to S8 someday. if they did, it probably wouldn't be till summer.

It would be nice, I have no problem getting it from Pro8 if I need it in the meanwhile. Kodak still gets the business that way

64T was announced as such because super 8 is handled by a "professional" arm of Kodak these days.

There were still more rolls of K40 sold to amateurs than rolls of the neg stocks sold to those shooting professionally...unless Kodak would like to refute that?

I would imagine 200T has greater latitude and looks more "modern" (whatever that means) than 64T...or any reversal film.

It does, I just fancy trying the 64T.

Can you share their reply? Is this the same as the V2 that Pro8mm offers? This is great news.

Here's part of the reply I got concerning 50D in S8, this was back in Oct

We will be launching the new VISION2 50D film in a variety of 16 mm, 35 mm
and 65 mm formats over the next few weeks and months, depending on where in
the world you might reside. Due to some manufacturing site modifications
currently being undertaken we have not yet had a opportunity to optimize
our Super 8 film finishing equipment for the 7201 product and, I'm sorry to
say, we do not expect to be able to do so for several months yet. Once we
do get our equipment fine tuned to produce the new stock, we do plan to
test the camera, processing and systems performance of 7201 in Super 8
format.

I agree that the image structure alone would make the VISION2 50D an ideal
candidate for an addition to the VISION2 color negative Super 8 family.
Assuming that the product performs well and the demand exists, I too hope
that we can provide 7201 in Super 8 format.

Sounds promising, I'd imagine the grain might even be tighter than K40.

John may well not know...remember he's not really involved that much in decisions as to which filmstock is next launched in super 8.

The 50D that Pro8 currently has is based off of the EXR 50D (7245). At least when I ordered last week and what I recieved this week. Already shot 2 rolls, looking forward to the results. 7245 is a great stock, I've loved my 16mm results.

Yeah, their stock 50 film is EXR 45 but they'll custom load 01 V2 for you if you request it (minimum order involved). Daniel, in Chile did it recently.

I suspect that quote about Kodak evaluating Kodak VISION2 50D Color Negative Film 7201 is from one of the folks in Kodak's origination products group. As Super-8 production moves back to the USA, there may be a delay of a few months in further testing, but I know evaluation of 7201 is still planned. Until then, there is no decision on supplying 7201 in the Super-8 format.
