In fact, when you moderately overexpose a color negative, you get finer grain and more shadow detail, but you do need to be sure you don't overexpose to the extent the negative is too dense to transfer well.
I admit, this sounds promising.

I guess I'll give it a try--see how it comes out.

Tim, if you exposed 50ASA modern negative stock at 40ASA you really will have a hard telling it apart from the same scene exposed at 50ASA.

I would positively advise to expose it at 40ASA, and if not 25 - this would be ideal for Super8.

7217 has an exposure index of EI-200 tungsten. So exposing it at EI 40 tungsten is 2 1/3 stop overexposed.

Isnt the wittner Chrome, 100D and V50D, kodak stocks which is slit down and placed in a S8 cart?

The 100D already seems to be available. While the V50D still seems to be on hold.

100D = Kodak Ektachrome 100D (7285).

V50D = Fuji Velvia 50.

Very incredible film!

Post by brandon »

Hi guys,

I think the Kodachrome is an "dream film": yesterday I have seen my grandfather's 16mm film (shot in the 50's with Kodachrome): after half century its images are of incredible quality, seem shot now, with living and full colors :!: :!:
Good work Poliestere, also I want save the Kodachrome. I have printed and sent your petition, it's the minimum that I can do for it!

From what I have personally seen many many times, the original Kodachrome (before it became Kodachrome II and modern day Kodachrome 40) is the most wonderful film ever produced. Knowing MOST folks had crapatola cameras, the resolution was still incredible. Imagine if the original Kodachrome could be used in today's finest super 8 cameras???!!!

Anyway, agreed. The best films in order from Number 1 down are:

1-Kodachrome (prior to 1965)

2-Kodachrome II (introduced in 1965)

3-Kodachrome 40 (introduced in the mid 1970's or so, too lazy to check).

I believe that when most older people think of Kodachrome and its colors, they think of the first Kodachrome. Otherwise, they have seen it on tv and that's what they are recalling.

crapatola
Get a 16mm $50 Keystone A-7 and shoot some K-40 today! File off the top row of perf pins for 1R.
crappapatollala

K-40 16mm from Dwayne's is $38.97 plus processing of $25 and shipping back and forth several times: total $15.
One roll would be $78.97

Heck, I only have $60 :oops: :evil:

NO,NO,NO,NO

K40 IS BOTTOM OF THE LIST, K40 IS AWFULL.
YOUR LIST SHOULD READ

KODACHROME I

KODACHROME II

KODACHROME 25

KODACHROME 40

KODACHROME 25 is a stunning stock, K40 has a narrow window of looking good, is grainy and soft compared to k25. Dont forget, k40 is supposed to be used in artificial light, John always says match the filmstock to the light source. K25 looks and is better in any daylight shoot compared to k40

As kodak will never give us k64 in the super 8 or 16mm formats, then i would like to see there highest resolving power daylight ektachrome brought out in the said formats, none of these tungstan films which are more grainy in daylight.
