Unusual Bolex Pro 16mm

Apologies if anyone is watching this, but I don't think this will drastically affect the ending price ;) I remember reading about this camera somewhere - supposedly Bolex's attempt to introduce a more advanced design?

Is it sync sound? What capacity are the magazines? Any other information?

Bolex and Beaulieu made similair cameras in 1972. They were designed for news gathering, at least aimed at that market. The beaulieu had pilotone, crystal control and a sound head option with a 200' coaxial magazine.
I'm not sure if they ever were entirely sucessful. Although they did seem to pave the way for the design on the eng camera.

That's such a beautiful camera, I'm jealous of anyone with one.

I've heard that there is only a little more than a hundred Bolex Pros made. Another one was offered a few weeks ago at swiss Ebay but I forgot to follow it to check the closing price.
Though a small batch, all Pros are not similar, but I do not have precise information but it is prolly some differences in the viewfinder construction.

That same Bolex (or at least the same picture) was up about a month ago. Guess it didn't turn out too well for whoever bought it. Six grand? That's a lot a scratch for a weird old camera.

From a user standpoint, everything I have ever read about the Bolex Pro was that is is a clunker. Not very user friendly, difficult to hand hold, and is rare enough that service for it can be either non-existant or very costly. Great from a collector or admirer standpoint, but I would spend my money elsewhere for a serious 16mm camera.

I've used both the Bolex Pro and the Beaulieu News 16.The Bolex Pro was very difficult to work with,an engineer's design trying to second guess what cameramen want.It was heavy and not very well balanced. The Beaulieu was much more user friendly, lighter (disadvantage though, being 200 foot mags instead of 400 foot).

The reason more of them weren't made is because by the time they came out,TV news, the market that these cameras were designed for went to ENG.
