"Film company" shirts, sweaters, hats for your pro

Had an interesting thought about something. I was just wondering how you acquire brand name film company shirts, sweaters, jackets, hats ect? Say like Kodak, Fuji, Panavision ect.?
Does the production contact the company, tell them that you are shooting with this stock or this product, then they'll send you "promo" stuff to wear since it will be advertisement for them? Just wondering how this works out.

I got a project(semi-big) coming up in Dec and we'll be using a few "name brand" items, so that's why I have the question. I want to let crew/newspaper reporters/ on lookers ect. now what we're shooting with.

Probably cheaper/aspiring filmmakers get their 'gear' shirts from eBay ;) I know I see Arri hats regularly. Seems kind of strange to advertise for the company *and* pay for the item, if you're already using their gear...

i recently called aaton and said "i'm a filmmaker can i have a t-shirt?" they sent three. but i'm not sure what you're asking here. do you want to use the brand names in the film? that could be more complicated...

Mattias, you just answered my questioned! No I don't want to use them in the film, just stuff for the crew to wear and to promote what products we are using. So it looks like I'll just call a few of these places and see what they say.

Never hurts to ask.

I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with this that's all. 8)
