dont forget that not only can you process anywhere that does 16mm, the costs would be about a third off of what you pay for cart super8 due to cheaper product and processing costs, you also get camera registration like you do in 16mm and 35mm cameras, not the old plastic cart that allowes breathing. ds8 also seems to easily cater to wide gate8/maxi8/super duper8 or whatever you want to call it, because on the camera bodies that have removable lenses you can use 16mm lenses that will definatly cover the wide frame. i have a double super8 forum if you want to learn more about it, just send me your email and ill add you. im getting hate mail on there at the moment. i havent erased any of the postings because i dont want it to look like im covering anything up. but if you go into back posts youll learn a lot about the format. you can also see some stuff at doublesuper8.com

There is a "work around" in super8 using track/stab tools in post. One can get decent stabilisation. But one need to loose some part of the image during the process (and the original image have to provide some element to be trackable for stabilisation in the image)
For example scanning at 2K on a Spirit, you may get 2048 x 1556 frames (with part of the perf). After stab and crop, you may get a 1920 x n lines , where n will depend if you want a 1.85:1 or 1.78:1 ... image aspect ratio.
i know of enough people who have had headaches with really bad registration. i figure if you can get it right without pissing around thats a bonus allong with the other pluses i mentioned. its like srystal sync, id rather do everything during shooting than fix everything in post
Is there in Chile a Lab that process Super 8 negative film?
Well not really, but there is a lab in Santiago that process 35mm and 16mm in ECN-2, that have already developed a first super8 neg roll some months ago and are quite open minded to accept to develop some more rolls, but one have to give them enough time (probably one week or so) in order for them to develop it as a special run, without disturbing the 35mm and 16mm footage. I will keep you informed on what's going on in terms of quality etc...
That´s good, the guys from the Pro Labs in B.A. kicks your ass when you ask for developing Super 8 negative film... :?
Concerning the Optex PL to C-Mount, mine doesn't give me focus normally with the Pro8 Classic camera, I have to stop down to F 8 to get focus... probably the adapter is a bit too long or too short for this camera
I didn't noticed that it was possible to unscrew a very thin black ring on the Optex adapter... A DP friend of mine showed me that !

Watch out.... With our Classic Pro8 camera, it was possible to get focus without the outer black ring, but the problem I have experienced then was that the adapter did not get well fixed, as the brass ring (that is also removable "in order to line up lens scales on the camera") doesn't got unified with the rest of the adapter, when a PL (Zeiss T*) was mounted to the adapter.... .....I had to glue the brass ring with "la gotita" rapid/strong glue in order to get it fixed.
Besides this, the adpater is very nice !

I have just created a topic related to PL to C mount with this message, in order to move this to there, and leave this topic to its subject, the welcomed v2 50D stock (in any format gauge).
