Hi Elmogs,

versandbuchhandlung is the ebay name of the publisher. I am the editor. We are in different cities and I am a freelancer. But don't worry. If you paid on Nov 1 the magazine is still on shipping. It takes up to 4-6 weeks to arriver in USA.

Ok. It would be nice to get a reply from the publisher just to let me know that the item has been shipped and is on its way....
thanks for the reply.

You speak of Portland, OR... bikes are preferred over cars here too. are we 100 years in the past, or 100 years in the future?

Don't forget that some potential subscribers probably didn't subscribed yet because of this unclear situation... .

I'll gladly kick in whatever money I get from the Small Format Magazines I have sold.

So that could be worth the equivalent of 10 subscriptions.

What's the future of Small Format Magazine?
How did the meeting go?
Did the publishers decide that the magazine is a great project and needs to survive?

I have to admit: I am more than surprised that everybody is content with the quality of Super8Today. For me, being a "competitor", it is a little bit difficult to express myself, but there is a certain reason to do so.

First, I find it impossible and destroying the whole market that Chris Cottrill asked the owner of the European shops advertising in small format to have the same ads for free in this magazine. This destroys the whole market and it is more than an unfriendly act. With this kind of methods the whole market for both magazines will be brocken-down within short time.

Every ad client of small format will say: Well, why should I pay for an ad in small format again when its free in Super8Today. But of course it will not be free in Super8-Today in the near future. Ad clients will then say: oh, why should I pay for an ad when it was for free in your last issue? With this kind of business policy both magazines will be blown up within short time.

What I find even worse is that the readers seem to be content with only 29 pages for articles and with the quality of the articles. No tests of apparatuses, no historical stories, no real hints to make better movies, no reportage about filmmakers, processing labs - nothing. For me, most interesting was only the interview with Mrs. Scott from Kodak.

But if all of you think, the layout and the quality of the articles is fine, then maybe our efforts with small format might be a little bit overdone and a club magazine like "Super8Today" is really sufficient.

I have to avow: I am a little bit at a loss...

Yesterday, I had my meeting with the publishers. I convinced them of writing a letter/email to all people that ordered the first issue of small format and did not subscribe now. The letter will be a small reminder. Furthermore we will contact all possible companies concerning advertisements. The publishers are optimistic to give their "go on" in about 4-5 weeks.

Will that include any of the 2000 magazines you mailed to prospective subscribers as well?

Instead of whining about how someone gives away ad space you should change your model...

Personally, I think that you have other issues you need to get under control. Hasn't everyone that paid you in North America had to wait week and months for their copies??

Like Roger says maybe the town isn't big enough for two restaurants.

Good Luck
