Camera Noise contest: owner of several S8 camera please post
Moderator: Andreas Wideroe
Got my hands back on an old document from a S8 mag of the 80's.
First, remember that dB scale is exponential : means that an increase of 3dB is twice louder.
Conditions : sonometer 1meter from camera in front of the lens. Cameras on tripods
difference of noise:
not loaded loaded
18fps
Canon 1014xl 39.5 44.5 +5
Elmo 1012xl 44 46 +2

I have a few cameras.
Nizo 4080 - very quiet, very nice. (I have heard that the Nizo sound line of cameras (6080, 6056, 4080) are so quiet because they use a rubber cord instead of metal gears for film-turning, but I've never opened mine up)
Canon 1014 AZ - very, very loud. Takes great pictures and the film plays back very smooth, but its about as quiet as a lawn mower.

Andreas, please forget what I said about unsticking posts cause I did a first classification based on posts & a bit personnal experience. I think some may react cause there's strange things on the classification. Remember that I did not get a lot of responses too.
Unfortunuatly, I had to remove some cameras that posters talked about cause I had not enough informations to put it on :
Here it is from the quieter to the louder :
NIZO 6080
NIZO 4080
NIZO 3056-2056
BAUER 715 XLS
NIZO Integrals ( 10 & 7 )
ELOM 110s
BEAULIEU 5008s-ms
NIKON Super Zoom 8
ELMO 1012XLS
CANON 1014XLS - 814XLS
BEAULIEU 6008 ( based on the fact that jerome find it louder than XLS but seams strange ...)
CANON 310 XLS AF
CANON 814 Electronic
CANON 310 XL
BEAULIEU 4008 ZM-2-3-4
NIKON R10
NIZO S148
CANON 1014 Auto Zoom
CANON 814 Auto Zoom
Wanna change some things ? Please post !!!
But where are LEICINAs, BEAULIEU 6/7/9008 (not clearely quoted here), DS8 & Single8 cameras,ect... ???
