The Recycles film online

Post by sunrise »

Following a line of updates, the recycles film that I made for this summers Roskilde festival is now online. This film was shown with 12 other films as a warm up for the main features in the movie tent (Roskilde cinema).

The footage varies from the first super8 I ever shot to present day with a variety of cameras, stock and transfer methods. If you want to know more from a specific scene please ask. Artists featured on film includes amongst others new order, nine inch nails, beth gibbons, lamb, nick cave and dave gahan.

Recycles #8: uden titel

ANY comments are welcome!

I was going to watch it but sadly newer got as far as to the cinema tent.
This years festival was a bit wild for me. I had a lot of fun though.

I did shot a cart of K40 with varying footage quality with my eumig mini3.
I should post the results some day.

I think the eumig gave better results then i had expected. I think that some imagery was very sharp for a fixed focus lens!

I think your video was pretty cool! Very super eighty 8) if you see what i mean. What stocks did you use. Im guessing; some vision 2, K40, and tri-x. Was the tri-x (Dave Gahan shoot amongst others) home developed?

I love how you synched your imagery to the music. :)

I enjoyed that! I like how you put it together, I like the score and the processing artifacts. Nice energy.

What is said at the end?

it kind of looks like the film was thrown on the ground and run over several times by a tractor with sandpaper on it's wheels. iassume that was some of your first footage? but the majority of the film looks filthy....how do you store it? was that soundtrack created in a loop-based audio program?

I did, however, like the few times where it was obviously cut to the music.

The Dave Gahan and Bjork footage is Tri-x which was bucket processed as negative and scanned by Kent in Uppsala.

Most of the film has been "dirtied up" since it showed some wear from bad storage and constant projector experiments. I just went with it and made it a style in the film.

We made the music with Scale Tracker and instruments.

At the end the guy says: "We have lost the signal from Roskilde, we will return shortly." It is taken from and old VHS recording (actually a copy of a U-matic tape) of U2's performance there in 1982, which was broadcast live on national television. It's very historic footage as Bono climbs on the a camera crane and sings as he is hovering above the audience.
