Weekend: Who's shooting some film? I am...
Just loading up the Bauer C Royal (7-56mm) and some K40. Shooting some film at the local bike track today. What's everyone else shooting this weekend? Anything interesting?
I like the Royal C for its super sturdy build, rock solid image stableness, and its unbeat 7mm wide angle capability. If there was one camera to recommend to a newcomer, it would be this one.
OK, folks, pony up your weekend filming plans!
Cheers,
Mike

Tomorrow there's a sort of portrait party at a photographer friend's house. Several of us w/kids are going to set up and photograph each other for holiday portraits, etc.
I'll be shooting some b/w and color still film with my Mamiya 645 pro. And I'll be shooting some Plus-X neg 16mm of the proceedings w/my freshly-serviced Beaulieu R16.
Last weekend I shot some K40 that I haven't sent off yet, and some Fomapan... that I haven't sent off yet. I think a theme is "developing" here...

Shooting 1 or 2 carts of K40 for a short. Mostly exterior/POV stuff. I have to decide whether to use the Nizo S560 or the Nikon R10 - the site is fairly hard to access, so the Nikon might be too bulky/heavy. My "steadicam" rig is also impossibly heavy with the Nikon, requiring 4-5 lbs of weight on the bottom to balance.

On Saturday I'm meeting a friend of my father-in-law's in Ventura somewhere. He has a small part in an independent film and I'm going to go observe. Hopefully I can take some photos. I like being on the set of films and watching how everything unfolds.
On Sunday I'm going to finish off a half cart that I have leftover from my Tahoe trip. I also have half cart leftover from the silly ESPN/Nat. Geographic spoof my friend wanted to do, so I'll finish off that cart. Then I'm just going to blow a cart on practice with the Glidecam2000. There's also a huge flourescent green wall by my house and I might shoot a few seconds of my wife in front of it...just for kicks to see how this wall works as a chroma-key background.
Then I'll shoot something that I can put in place of the greenscreen.
I also might try and float an apple around the shot using a visible string, and then see how easy/difficult it is to remove it in post. Maybe a stupid idea, but I'm curious.....and I'll never know unless I try, right? I also have a couple other shots I'd like to try so if I remember them, I'll try them.
And of course, all my film stuff will be posted here when I get it back! Have fun everybody!
***edit*** I forgot to mention I selected K40.

Just to prove that they really existed,
Just to prove that they really existed!
People take pictures of the summer,
Just in case someone thought they had missed it,
And to prove that it really existed.
Fathers take pictures of the mothers,
And the sisters take pictures of brothers,
Just to show that they love one another.
Oh how I love things as they used to be,
Don't show me no more, please!
;)

Sounds like your wife is about to be bounced outta the picture by a giant monster apple! :lol:sooper8fan wrote:There's also a huge flourescent green wall by my house and I might shoot a few seconds of my wife in front of it...just for kicks to see how this wall works as a chroma-key background. Then I'll shoot something that I can put in place of the greenscreen.

My film choices are not on your list. I (almost) never am without an AX100 loaded with RT200N and a P1 with R25N. When I'm actually planning on shooting something, I'll bring the ZC1000. Like for the ride here Saturday to film some of the L.A. Derby Dolls:

I probably won't be filming this weekend but starting on Monday, the 14th thru the 20th I'll be filming some S8 in the Virgin Islands! Yep, one week of paradise...my wife's brother is getting married on St. Johns and he asked me specifically to shoot a short "documentary" of both the island and the wedding. I'll be using 7 rolls of K40, 3 of VNF and 2 Tri-X with my Minolta XL-401...should be fun. I'll see if I can get a cool time-lapse of the sunset or sunrise...
Not sure if I'll be able to check this forum again til the 22nd so I'll let you know how it turns out in a couple of weeks...no Walmart processing either!
