Whats this on my Beaulieu R16?

See the picture below... well there is a socket next to the speed dial in the middle of the pic... anybody know what it's for... all the other R16's i look at don't have it.


Just to add... out of pure lazyness from me... i stole this image from Ebay, sorry. But it is the same as mine.

That is very odd - I have never seen one either, but flash socket sounds likely.

Possibly a modification by a previous owner?

This is the last version of R16 before 2016.
It has a flash socket contact and a different motorgear, that will lower the "noise" from mechanism/motor.
