for the record, what exactly does aesthetically pleasing 'in use' mean? If a camera is ugly, like the Agfa posted above, it won't look any better while using it.

I voted beaulieu ofcourse

Meaning you get lots of oohs and ahhs from strangers when shooting with it...I had a cute girl approach me once with my Bolex P1 - talk about a chick magnet!

If there was ever an award for aesthetics in super 8 cameras, I think it should go to Chinon cameras in general.

By the way, I had two girls come up and talk to me in the same day while I was filming with my Canon 1014E.

Ah, when it come to StarWars phaser style cameras, I have to vote for the Agfa Movexoom 4000!

This Agfa Movexoom 4000 is definitely cool looking, but in terms of "sci-fi cinema" hardware, it looks more like it would be in a 1950s or 1960s-era film like The Day the Earth Stood Still, or some other "flying-saucer" flick.

The R10 really resembles the chunky black "gun-like" hardware that started to appear in the 1970s. A little bigger than the trim pistols used in the original Star Wars, but I still sometimes pretend that I'm blasting imperial stormtroopers. :P

If I ever can afford to buy one, I will definetly garner some "Oooohs and Awwwws" from peope when using any compatible camera with a SuperMag 400. Anything looking that 'professional' is definetly asthetically pleasing.

Jordan

It will probably be used on my Elmo 1012SXL only. (I do not yet have another compatible camera!) My friends who see me shoot film all the time still sometimes comment when I bring out a camera they haven't ever seen. I get it when they forget what a Bolex H8 looks like.
I'm back, I'm back- thebrowniecameraguy is back! I still have my Brownie 8mm Turret f/1.9! Time to play!

With the help of marketeers, many people confuse features with technology.

Ponder this--a family sedan has a lot of features but is it more "technologically advanced" than a GT3?

Lap disolves on the canon vs the curved gate of the minima? Hmm I wonder where the "technology" is...

I find alot of older reg 8mm cameras pleasing....as for impressing people...the Beaulieu 1008XLS may be bottom of the line for Beaulieu but it gets looks!

I do remember shooting in a small theatre...the teenage performers set up three mini dv cams to capture their show...but I heard the comment, "wow look at that cool old film camera" when I unleashed my elmo Super 110....
The government says that by 2010 30% of us will be fat....I am merely a trendsetter :)
