Our films on Archive.org
Why not put our films onto Archive.org?
Here is the page to start with to do that.
http://www.archive.org/create/
If we used the same catagory like Super8_myfilmsyz all the super8 films may get put into one listing.

NOT knowing what I am doing, I chose super8mm as an identifier. Then, I tried to upload a S8 movie. Here it is. My movie is now on Archive.org 8O
http://www.archive.org/details/Super8mm
I have no idea if this is the correct way to do it for everyone to upload to one Super8mm file folder or not. This movie will be deleted if it has messed up the proper way it should be done. Let me know.

With my older computer, I only got sound. Comes in real clear soundwise.studiocarter wrote:http://www.archive.org/index.php
Ha, Ha, I'm on the front page, "The Find" is now up and active
Will allowing others to use our soundtracks for free nullify our own ability to sell our own films later if we allow them to be Public Domain now????
Back in the late 80's, I made two "Season's Greetings" commercials (in super-8). They were Greetings commercials that any broadcaster could customize for their local market, "Season's Greetings from.....".super8man wrote:Visions of grandeur? Sort of like all those old scams of photo contests where your work became part of someone elses stock photography portfolio. Personally, I recommend avoiding all forms of public "contests" for those reasons.
One of the pieces was composed by someone who has gone on to have a very successful music career scoring music for feature films, television shows and commercials.
I'd never want to post that somewhere where the act of posting it made the soundtrack open game to anyone in the world to use. If I ever do post it, I'll probably have to mix in some inane sounds to lessen someone's desire to just steal it.

The stream download only gives me sound, too. That sound is elevator music anyway. Try an acutal download of the mpeg-1 VCD file. That is a standard format and always worked on this site.
My description was edited with lots of different S8 text
I need all the grandeur I can get. That is a great place to put movies. It has a super presentation what with those thumbnails, description, and various compressions. VCD is excellent to download and view full screen with. If anyone wants a high resolution of my film they can contact me for a Rank copy and pay for it. It is film after all and may be properly transferred. This one was done by me with a hi-8 camera and a Goke TC-20? Put it into a portfolio? Not likely. The story idea is the best thing about it.

Thank you very much. Yep, it was all Plus-X. There wer a lot of lights on for the interior shots. Editing was done on a PC so it is not
ALL
film.
That film and many others were all on filmshooting for many years, but now are gone and when present were lost in the pile. IF you can find a film maker on archive and IF you can find his films or format then that is a great way to show off. It may take a while to learn how to work that site.
Last night I finally downloaded a 3.86GB movie, American Empire. The PC would time out and all would be deleted before a movie was finished downloading. Now, I know how. So, really high quality (large mpeg-2 files) movies may be posted there.
