Hey Jukka,
these frames looks awesome...incredible sharpness!!
Who´s the Director of photography? Great job!
Just a little question... where´s the Italian cowboy in this Spagetti Western?
The guy in the film is a very very nordic cowboy!!
Io ti convertire la vostra testa un setaccio, mascalzone!! (translate)

Spaghetti Western
Sweet! Clip looked really nice -- amazing in fact, considering it's S8mm. Hope to see more of your clips soon. I'd love to see this on a DVD and see how it looks on my television screen. I am wondering at that size how much the grain will stand out.
Super Work -- makes S8 users proud.

We only have native italian voice over, other things are really Finnish-stylish things, but hey this isn't real spaghetti western at all, more like pasta western (you'll get the point, when you'll see the movie)!

Re: Spaghetti Western
I already have tested it with 8 min rawedited (the whole movie will be about 15 minutes), made both 2.35:1 letterboxed 4:3 and letterboxed 2.35:1 16:9 am version for DVD and both looked just great! I wacthed them with my 32" Panasonic TV.ds21z wrote:Sweet! Clip looked really nice -- amazing in fact, considering it's S8mm. Hope to see more of your clips soon. so it's verified then. not all dv avi's work on mac os. most other ones do, and since all dv codecs are compatible at the data level it has do be a file format thing. does canopus use their own avi format or what?jukkasil wrote:Here is also DV-clip (note: used canops codec!)

the stills look great. even when compared to the omnipresent hd still. i wish daniel had used a still with more detail than a closeup of an eye. it would have avoided plenty of misconceptions.

Mattias, I still use 5 years old Canopus DVRaptor in Win98SE, so that's why I send this DV-file with Canopus own codec. Anyway I'm planning to replace that computer to new Mac after I have completed this "Al Dente" and "Nut Case" short movies.mattias wrote:you're right, thanks. which makes me even more curious about avi-formats since the dv data seems to be regular dv...

no, the codec doesn't really matter -- quicktime should play all dv codecs -- i'm curious about the file format which has to be non standard in some way.jukkasil wrote:Mattias, I still use 5 years old Canopus DVRaptor in Win98SE, so that's why I send this DV-file with Canopus own codec.

Your frames look great. I'm downloading the film now.
I also shot a Western here in Canada last January.
Here's the link to anyone interested.

shutter angle could be a factor
The Canon has a XL Shutter does it not ? I find I get sharper images using cameras with a smaller shutter opening. My Nizo 8060 produces a softer image then my Beaulieu shooting the same thing. I personally like the soft look of the western, but looking at that eye close up I was impressed. However close ups always look sharper and there was no movment. Have you ever noticed how digital camera makers always show close up and macro pictures of what there cameras can do?
