i see, far young yo know anything about - music...
try to get hold of the complete 31.12.1962 Reperbahn Beatles tapes and youll learn what rock n roll is all about. berry and lill richard admitted that The Beatles played and sung the fuck out of them.
alternatively you may see if you can get hold of a copy of their live performance on Swedish TV in 1963 just before hell broke lose - when they were at the peak as live performers according to themselves. such performances would turn any club upside down even today - theres simply noone touching them.
Jethro Tull proves that you are far to young to understand. some of my younger friends were into tull n ive listened a lot to their records from the late 60 onto 70s id rather rename them to Goddamnd Dull pretenders.
cant belive that any "rock star" except possibly Reggie Dwight would be "proud" over the "Sir" title which has nothing to to with musical creativity. Guess you highly dislike "Sir Mick Jagger" as much?
guess spice girls will become knighted "SpaceLadys" next time they meet?
If you were half updated in modern music history youd know that R&B black music was highly disregarded by the white establishment in USA in the 50s and early 60s for being "filthy" and bad for the youth and treated accordingly ie not known. thus elvis was the only contender accepted performing their music allthough he was "no good for the youth" either. being non black made him half accepted. withhout brit bands refining it and re-exporting it to USA there a fair chance youd never heard of Chuck Berry, Little Richard, Motowns et all n a lot of blues musicians was well.
The black artists in charge recently returned a big thank you to the brit bands of the 60s for making their muisc accepted in the usa and allowed them you succed as artists there as well.
if my memory serves both Chuck Berry and Little Richard played in Hamburg pre 1963 - and were very popular in europe but not known at all or accepted at all in the "white" USA. Apparently they met The Beatles In Hamburg and from memory I recall Little Richard toured with them in Britain in 1963.
well, that was the short version.
btw next time you have the opportunity go-see-hear-procol-harum-live still having their original crew and they still play and sing the fuck out of anything mentioned originally in this post in still in their original keys and arrangements.
you may get an indicator of what some of what the 60s was about.
AC/DC? yeah - sure - pretenders. i know them well. my wifes UK nephew lived with us for a while was deep into AC/DC at their peak so i know them well. great. so whose head dug in nigel?
you may well add Motörhead, Iron Maiden, Kizz + + + + +
the only thing i can credit AC/DC for is that when you listen to their shit today it comes out good compared to what considered the most "hot" current music scene - as does many other bands in between 60s and now not really good in their time.
