Where do I send prepaid Kodachrome 40 in the USA?

Where have you guys been sending your prepaid processing K40 to lately?

not sure about the prepaid processing stuff anymore, but I send my stuff to Dwayne's Photo in Parsons, Kansas.

I confirmed this number with Kodak before sending off my prepaid Kodachrome, and received two batches (11 rolls total) back with no problems.

The film is being sent to Switzerland now, so turnaround is about 2.5 weeks; two or three days longer than when they sent the film to Dwayne's.

I noticed that the film I received back from Switzerland seemed much cleaner than the rolls Dwayne's had processed in the past. Anyone have a similiar comment?

I think I had some black & white filme processed in Switzerland a few years ago, but obviously that's not K40.
All my stuff from Dwayne's has been awesome, in my opinion. I've postes several clips on this forum that have all been processed at Dwayne's and I've gotten nothing but good reviews from other memebers. I'm sure part of it is the transfer as well, but hey. Also, the last few times I've sent stuff to Dwayne's it has returned to me in about 8 days and I'm in Southern California.

Has Kodak provided a cut-off date for when they will stop accepting K-40 mailers through Beltsville?

Pre-paid Switzerland processing ain't in the mailers, it's on the cart's label. Switzerland will process your carts for free even if you'll send'em without the mailers that are mainly for conveniently sending your reels back to you.

Probably the pre-paid carts will be not accepted anymore when Switzerland will finally close down, whenever that might be. There'll be only Dwayne's 9 bucks left after that, 6 bucks if sent through Wal-Mart.

I heard that District Photo (Beltsville, Maryland) was going to stop accepting US addressed mailers/cartridges a while before Kodak Switzerland stopped processing K-40. This has something to do with the fact that Kodak stopped selling pre-paid K-40 here about a year ago.

My question is what's the current date District Photo will no longer handle them for Kodak?

Ah Yes!,

In 2002 they revived pre-paid here at $13.35 per roll! Life was good! It was the same mailer that is used in the rest of the world and continued to say "Kodak processing not available in the US"

Last year about this time it came out that they were killing it here again so I stocked up before they ran out.

The question is how long can I still get the film handled through the current domestic address.

No, it's been available in the US until recently. All of the K40 I've purchased in the past three years until my last 50 cart order was CAT 505 3335, which was process-paid film.

I only have sent my prepaid processing K40 once to Switzerland, only because it came back absolutely destroyed. I guess someone must have stepped on it, on it's way to Switzerland, not pleased to see the big shoe print on it. :evil:

About 2 months ago I did what I normally do: put my exposed K40 in that yellow envelope and mail it to Fairlawn. It came back a month later with the original cartridge (unprocessed) and the part of the mailer that had my address on it. No note, no nothin. WTF?
So I called Kodak and after talking to about 9 people, someone finally gave me the Beltsville, MD address. I sent it off today. I guess I'll wait a month or two and see what happens.

The part that pissed me off what just getting my roll back with my address on the mailer. Like I'm supposed to know what to do.

After my last two rolls I'm not even going to try anymore and just stick with PlusX.

Same thing just happened to me, drsanchez. I sent a pre-paid cart in the envelope that comes in the CAT 505 3335 box to the Beltsville MD address, and it came back three weeks later unprocessed in a white envelope that said "Photos enclosed" and was addressed to KC S8-Movies, but at my home address. The return address section was cut from the Kodak mailer and included with my cart. The rest of the envelope was not included. There was no explanation for the return.

I called the 1-800 number for District Photo, and they had no record of my order number. The order number, according to the person I spoke with, is the number on the little tear-off square on the mailer that you're supposed to retain when you send the film in. I also had her check the number printed with the barcode on the white film lab envelope. In fact, she said both of those numbers I gave her had too many digits.

One problem I had was that I used the wrong zip. I specified 20704, and the person at District Photo said it should be 20705.

I just sent it back to District Photo a couple of days ago. I enclosed the white mailer, my return address, the cart, and a letter requesting an explanation if the film can't be processed into a larger envelope and mailed it back. Hopefully I'll get my processed film back this time, and if not then maybe an explanation along with the cart.

The CAT 505 3335 mailer is a major pain in the butt anyway. Half the time, the post office reads the return address as the delivery address and I get my film back unprocessed, having never made it to the lab, anywhere from 1 to 10 days after mailing it. Very frustrating.

I could only tell you that processing in switzerland (Lausanne) will stop in 3/2006, perhaps the period will be extended till 5/2006, but thats not for sure.
