widescreen lenses for 62mm thread
is this just too large for widescreen and will create a lot of vigentting or are there any anamorphic lenses that will do the trick and still give a reasonable amount of zoom without vignetting?

Anamorphic adaptor for DVX 100. I use the anamorphic adaptor with a step-down ring on my Beaulieus, Nizos, and Leicina Spezials. 72mm to 62mm.

Are you pleased with the quality of the lens? Did you test this compared to those from Century? Or are the OEMed?M'Lord wrote:http://catalog2.panasonic.com/webapp/wc ... odelDetail?

Hi,
of course those lenses are only 1.33-anamorphots (while you might be searching for a 1.5- or 2.0-anamorphot).
Another idea: Search ebay for 2.0-anamorphots from Panavision, Isco or Möller (Moeller) that have been desinged for 35mm- or 70mm-projectors and hence should fit to a 62mm-thread. The only drawback: They weight 2kg or more (5kg seems to be "normal").

Hi Lunar07,
even though that Isco definately is a nice anamorphot, it has got one disadvantage:
"The rear glass element measures 54mm in diameter."
In other words: Even though the "rear barrel thread is 77mm" you'll have the same problems with vignetting as with an anamorphot with only a 54-56mm rear barrel thread on a 62mm-lens

Of course, I know that! You really have to find a fitting camera in an anamorphic setup that works well with the anamorphic lens. A camera with a 55mm or even 62mm thread should work fine. Anything bigger than that is not encouraged. There are some exceptions. For example, the Bauer 715XL with its 77mm front lens thread works all the way down to a focal length of 7-8mm with this anamorphic lens.
You are not going to find a bigger anamorphic lens than that ISCO. Just not practical to use.
This ISCO has a rear thread of 77mm and a clear rear optical diameter of 54mm. The 77mm rear thread is handy to give more support when connected to a camera.

Hi tristar,
the Iscorama 42 would give you even more vignetting than the Iscorama 54 since the "42"'s rear lense is 12mm smaller than the "54"'s. Hence using the "54" with a 77mm- to 62mm-step-down-ring would be the far better option.
If you're looking for a cheaper anamorphot: those Möller-2x-anamorphots with a large rear lense (but no thread at all) are sold on eBay-Germany for only 20 - 100EUR...
Just my two to three cents,
Jörg

If you've got too much money, you can buy an ISCORAMA-54 at the widescreen-centre for "only" £1602.79 (incl. VAT).
They also sell a "Widescreen 16:9" for "only" £345.00, but the neither state whether this anamorphot is a 1.5 or a 1.33 nor do they list the filter-size!
BTW: When a 1.33-anamorphot is sufficent for you:
Soligor sells it Anamorphot 1,33x 37/52mm for only € 149,00
But it's rear size is even smaler, giving even more vignetting.
