Re: 16mm Telecine with powershot camera

NCS Products not productions :D

I did that last summer. Swapped in a single-frame motor in the projector (Eiki) and had it single-frame while the camera was triggered by an intervalometer program running on my computer.

There's some focus-hunting, because I couldn't disable the auto-focus, but ...

Gee, I think the 4 AA battery feature is the nicest thing about it!

Running the K-3 requires about 0.5 amp motor current at 12V. That's 6W, or about 1.25 amp current draw from a 6V pack (given that the conversion is not 100% efficient). You can draw 1.25 amps from a AA battery pack for at least 15 ...

Yea, youve actually already persuaded me from using the K3 for time lapse! I was thinking of buying a Bolex H16 or something similar for time lapse shooting. I have read about the TIVs many times but they do cost quite a few $$$.
The main problem with using the K-3 for time-lapse is that you are ...

All in all, a great camera with all the basics. Doesn't do lap-dissolve, intervalometer etc though, but if you don't need them, this is a great and very solid camera.

Believe it or not, you can actually get an "off-the-shelf" intervalometer for the Kinoflex.

Clive Tobin is the guy who builds it - ask him.
The short & sweet version: Eyemo is not Filmo, it starts with an "E".
Slightly less short version:The trigger and film advance mechanisms, though similar, are not exactly the same. If Clive could have made his machine work for both, he would have ...

Why would the Filmo intervalometer have to be motorized?
There is no single-frame release button on a stock Filmo. You have to drive it thru the 20:1 drive shaft (twenty exposures per revolution of the shaft). Turn 1/40th of a revolution to open the shutter, then turn 1/40th of a revoluton to ...

Are the intervelometers easy to come by? Do they work with camera's other than Bolex? Is there an intervelometer for a Filmo DR?

You might track down an Eyemo with the Tobin rig. You can even manually single-step advance an Eyemo with the hand crank, although you'd have to handle the time exposure yourself.
You're thinking about the NCS Products rig.
Specifically the Revolution Eyemo. :)

A Kinoflex owner bought a TIV for the K-3 so I made him a baseplate so he could also use the same control box with the Kinoflex.

I'm not sure I've got the time to build lots of these and its a bit of a prototype. If I did they would be quite expensive which would be kinda defeating the object, but I will certainly publish the circuit for driving the servo (its really simple), then all you need is a servo, battery pack, box ...

It's always very repeatable with very little vertical jitter, frame to frame. However, simple stepper motor systems have a "step function" start and stop with relatively high torque. As a result, the film is jerked to advance and then the stepper drive instantly stops
Well, you can't feed a ...

There are some comparison clips at my web site, http://www.pingpongmedia.com . (If you get a codec error from the downloaded video, please don't yell at me. I'm trying to get it worked out ... arrgh!)

Re: KInoflex Time lapse

Hi,
I just got a Kinoflex.
I like to shoot frame by frame, is there a special setting to set the frame by frame on the kinoflex.
I couldn't figured out, and when I shoot with the remote control, It's to sensitive and not precise.
Does some one knows ?
Cheers,
Matthieu

I'm looking for an intervalometer for the Canon Scoopic. If anyone can turn me onto finding one somewhere other than ebay, I'd be very grateful. Thanks!

Re: crystal sync your camera!

but if I was you I wouldent worry about it because you would have to pay $500.00 if you went to the film group or tobin camera to buy a crystal sync.
Hey, don't forget NCS Products!
Our Revolution crystal-sync motor is $995 for the Bolex!
