Re: Moviestuff Retro 8 Pro Mac users

I first started with Retro 8 scanning on an imac i5 2.5 2011 model with bootcamp, but it kept crashing, so invested in an i5 intel pc tower with 1tb internal drive and since then all has been very stable.
I export to an Samsung 1tb usb bus drive then import to imac thru imovie 6.02 for editing and ...

Re: Retro-8 Film Scanner Review

Received my Retro 8 and scanning well - captured results from Regular 8 looking great when played back on the Retroscan software.
I'm running thru Windows 7 64 bit on imac with bootcamp.
Problem is that I can't successfully export the captured files. Just end up with empty folders! Am exporting as ...

Re: At a bit of a loss

I'm also thinking of shooting some 16mm 100D with my recently acquired Krasnogorsk.
Is there processing in the UK?
Can't seem to find this "Gauge Film' on ebay. Can someone kindly provide a link? Thanks

Re: Kodakrome from 1961

Since I started my transfer business in 1992, I am constantly amazed at the quality of incoming footage from clients. Local scenery and events have been well captured on amateur cine film.
Recently I've seen a surge of interest in this precious footage from local TV programme makers who have ...

Cine in Boston/New York?

Hi all,

We're about to visit the USA for the first time, staying at Boston, then New York.

Does anyone know of any stores/markets that may have cine-related items?

I'm hoping to shoot some 9.5mm footage (Cinechrome 100 daylight) with my recently acquired GIC 50ft spool loading camera! Hope the ...

A welcome to cinepat from another (oldie) Welsh cine enthusiast!
I've not used a greyline but have a few standard Specto machines in various gauges (which I've acquired over years of attending cine fairs and from clients who bring their films for transfer and leave their projectors with me).

They ...

I did use the Sankyo Dualux 2000H for many years as a workhorse for transfer of R8 and S8 footage.
I was informed that one UK transfer company had fifteen of these machines!

I used it with an aerial image mirror and condenser lens system, which then required an opal diffuser glass mounted in front ...

Looks like I'll be posting my exposed reels to http://www.super8.nl.

Thanks to all who responded for the useful suggestions and links.

I called Roy Salmons of Photoworld of Llandudno to check if he would process Ektachrome 64 but he too uses Andec.
But he did confirm that he sells the stock and ...

Ektachrome 64 UK Processing

I'm looking for a UK processing lab that can handle reversal processing of Ekta 64 and B/W Plus X and Tri-X.
I know this can be done through dealers like Widescreen Centre but would prefer to deal directly with a small processing facility.
Any advice from UK members gratefully received.
Thanks,
Harley

I would remind you Londoners that the World doesn't end at Shepherds Bush you know!
I have many loyal clients from the London area who use my transfer service. Being a one-man-band means I can offer a good service at very reasonable prices.
I don't have Flashscan but use both Tobin and Falker ...

There are a lot of problems, however cinema-going in the UK is at a high not seen for decades. So partially it may be cultural...we suffered a huge slump in the 80's when video first became viable at home but people have rediscovered cinema and how unique an experiecne it can be. IMAX is doing ...

IMO the most effective solution would be to replace your existing dichroic lamp with one of the range of LED units developed by the German company Telecine Components.
They offer a perfectly diffused source which will probably fit into the frame where your existing lamp is held.
I know their 3 watt ...

Many of them went on to become professional film makers.

Ken Russell was 'discovered' by the BBC (Huw Wheldon) after gaining a Ten Best award for his 16mm short 'Amelia and the Angel'.

I also submitted my own 16mm short 'Improvisation on a Beat Theme' but only came runner up with a Gold Star in ...
