Re: Another Amazing Stupid Question

Re: Conversion of H8 Rex 4 to Ultra 8
Well, Lomokino is out for me: I can't load the frikkin camera! After ruining 3 rolls of 35mm I have decided that for all its simplicity, the thing is rather cheesey in its manufacture and quite ugly to work with. Of course, I'm not that fond of cameras to begin with. I only use them in order to ...

Re: Conversion of H8 Rex 4 to Ultra 8
Well, the guy got back, most friendly. Bit too steep for me right now ($500 for the conversion, $900 for a freshly fitted Rex 4; not bad, really, but I don't have that kind of change presently). Think I'll try out the Lomokino system and see where it goes. Seems kind of fun, certainly cheap. As I ...

Re: Conversion of H8 Rex 4 to Ultra 8
Yes, I know. I see possibilities, however, way beyond the sort of home movie stuff they present there. It is a toy, of course, but an interesting one. I figure to go in the direction of Tcherkossky with the device, adding overlays of real time footage in Ultra 8, if it doesn't amount to a huge ...

Conversion of H8 Rex 4 to Ultra 8
Who can transform a Rex 4 regular 8mm Bolex into an Ultra 8? I am thinking of going in this direction in conjunction with my delving into lomokino. I want to use both. Hand crank and 24 fps in a wide screen experimental film. I am all thumbs when it comes to things mechanical. I had thought to ...

Re: Advantages, if any, to working in Regular 8mm
That's some REALLY nice footage. I like the color very much. I check him out. By the way, do you have a URL for him? Of course, I'll just google and see what happens. Thanks for letting me in on this possibility.

Re: Advantages, if any, to working in Regular 8mm
Thanks so much for your input. In my haste I jumped too quickly but I'm hoping I can at least capture footage I can work with.
I also have a non reflex H8 which is more or less ready to go. Plus a number of D mount lenses that work with it. I could even load the thing up today and go out shooting ...

Re: Advantages, if any, to working in Regular 8mm
Yes, I am wanting a rougher, more amateurish look to my films, for all their artiness. With my first venture into telecine I used super 8, however, it is moving in the direction I like. I am hoping for more of this soft edged quality from regular 8.

Re: Advantages, if any, to working in Regular 8mm
Well, yesterday I bought a COSMICAR 1.8/25mm C-MOUNT lens from the Rex 4 source, who's quickly becoming my dealer. See, I'd just got a $60 eBay Bucks Certificate and wanting to shoot some regular 8mm to see what I come up with I prevailed upon him to find me something cheap that I could use until I ...

Re: Loading Fomapan DS-8 into a Bolex
Good Lord but you chappies are sweet! More to say later when I settle. I had to run a poetry reading whilst filming the bloody thing AND MCing AND trying not to let the Devil know I'm dead!

Loading Fomapan DS-8 into a Bolex
I have this neat Bolex H-8 converted to super 8, and I bought this neat Fomapan R 2X10 m B/W reversal film which comes on a little spool that doesn't seem to fit into the camera. Now. Does this mean that I must somehow get the film on a Bolex spool, rewind it onto another bolex spool in the camera ...

Re: Advantages, if any, to working in Regular 8mm
Well, even though I am of the point and shoot school, I want to give regular 8mm a try. Thanks so much for the advice!
