Manually Turning the gear works. There is a black kind-of-gear on top of the big brown gear near the trigger. This black kind-of-gear should turn itself when the feather has tension. It'll drive the big brown gear, which drives the shutter, etc. When i manually turn the black kind-of-gear i relax ...
After i opened it I figured out that i can relax the feather manually step by step. A step means turning a little gear manually with a screwdriver for 5 minutes ... and that'll move 2cm of „film“. According to the 2 meters of winding this could take forever and may only perhaps lead to a ...
I did try every setting before opening it. I even pressed the cable-release hole.
After i opened it, i could wind it further, which i did carefully, hoping that the spring would somehow relax. I could sometimes trigger a few frames (perhaps 5) and i could sometimes something moved a little bit ...
Now (after finally solving my battery problem) my wind handle somehow got stuck, while playing around! It was wind up completely, when it suddenly blocked. I couldn't trigger anymore and i doesn't move a thing – completely stuck.
I tried to open it – but have no idea how to get to ...
I found another thread by you in 2007 which describes the battery problem: http://www.filmshooting.com/scripts/forum/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=17249 (didn't find it earlier, because it says carena zoomex and i looked for Variogon)
You said, with an Alkaline Battery it would „underexpose by up to 1 ...
Ok, i found the answer in the depth of the net. 1.5V batteries lose voltage by getting older. The mercury Battery had always the same 1.35V output. The zinc battery starts to die as soon as activated and doesn't last very long.
I have the possibility of manually setting the aperture. As i have an ...
Thanks, that was the right hint! Didn't realize that it had another voltage. Is there any possibility to compensate the exposure by setting to a lower iso? any experience? or not possible, because the meter is not linear to the voltage?
I'm going to holiday next week and would love to take the ...
i'm quite new to 8mm. I just got a (untested) Carena Variogon Zoomex camera from a friend. I replaced the broken PX1 battery with a new PX1A battery and now the exposure meter works again, but gives me unrealistic(?) values.
When i measure the wall next to me (dimmed room/evening sun) it ...
