I think I need a better projector

I have my Parents' Bell & Howell projector that we've used since I was very young, and the entire time we've had it the film has had a tendency to randomly stutter on playback. If I reverse the film and then play forward again it will often clear it up, but that's not an acceptable solution.

I'm ...

The End

I have replies aplenty, and could go on arguing this with all of you for the rest of my life if I was trying to convert you, but I'm not. I've tried to defend myself from attacks, and even accusations that I'VE been attacking (completely ridiculous, just re-read my posts), and no one is listening to ...

Hi Roger,

Thanks for clearing up your points, I do appreciate the dialog, and I have a few things to add. I swear I'm trying to wrap this up and get out of the way!

When I brought up how this topic ties in with the product you sell, I only meant that my views will keep me from buying a work ...

thanks

Dear Everyone,

This thread is not what I intended. I was asking a film question, and I am grateful for those who responded to my actual question. Those of you who want to argue about religion should e-mail each other privately, because that seems to be quite off topic here. The vegan debate is also ...

moral dilema!!! film is beautiful, but...

I've been living an increasingly vegan lifestyle for the past year or so, always learning something new as I go. I've found none of it to be a sacrifice until now. I just learned that all film and even photographic paper is made with gelatin, which is made by boiling cow bones, skin, tendons, and ...

VERY old film

Anywhere from 12 to 14 years ago, I bought a roll of super 8 film and never shot it. I don't have the box anymore so I don't know what kind it is, but it's still in the foil wrapper. I only know that it's color, and Kodak. It has been living in closets and in junk piles on various desks, and ...

I just called them. They say they can check out my 4080, but the guy I talked to said that with some Nizos there are parts they can't get, but his Brother knows more about that than he does. Of course, some repairs don't require parts, so depending on the problem, they might be able to help.

They ...

Does anyone know this repair shop?

My Nizo 4080 needs a diagnosis and some work done, so I started looking for shops as close as possible to Boston, and of the shops that mention Nizo, the closest one I found so far is in Rhode Island:

Has anyone heard of them or used them?

Thanks ...

Not that I've tried one before, but that does look nice! Thanks for all the tips. Everyone here is so helpful I don't know what to do with myself, thanks!!

I'll be sure to compress and post my work. Or maybe it'd be a better "thank you" to keep it to myself...

Tripods - what the heck, I'm on a roll

I took a brief look at some tripods the other day, and found nothing that inspired confidence in the $50 range. Not so sturdy, and jerky swivel action. Can anyone recommend something of reasonable quality that won't get me evicted for late rent payment?

What have I done? Is that the sickeningly ...

The seller seems to be working with me for now, so out of fairness I won't divulge who it is, unless I get screwed. That is to say, when I take it to get repaired, if the problems are NOT from shipping damage (such as dirty or worn contacts), then the seller will have to make the situation right, as ...

Nizo repairs

I've shot my first test roll with my new Nizo 4080 only to discover it has some problems, dang it.

1. The trigger and button releases randomly stop working (when one works they both work)

2. The battery test button seems to have a contact problem

3. The electrical master switch is loose, and ...

more booms

Thanks Crimson,

That's just what I was looking for! I actually use AT mics, they do have some good apps, and even if they're not so hot for dialog I'll use them for film because I'm not doing low budget film, only no budget! If my work justifies it, maybe I'll spend more later, but for now I'm ...

boom mics - favorite? favorites?

I'm just getting started thinking about getting started with s8 film. I run a small personal recording studio so I'm familiar with audio gear, but for film application I could use some advice.

Is there a preferred polar pattern for boom mics for dialog? I have two cardioid mics that I think should ...

NiMH it is!!

You're right Konton, I really don't want to overpower my new camera. Since I've never used rechargeables before, and the manual didn't mention it, I was unaware of the voltage difference.

Thanks for the tip, Giovanni!
