btw i thought the flashscan was an 8 bit scanner, so why the 10-bit files? you can still play 8-bit files in a 10-bit timeline, at least with blackmagic, and enjoy 10 bit rendering of effects. seems like all you "gain" from 10 bit files is 25% in file size.

(jpg compression blurred the grain a bit and therefore the image, too)

Re: Kodak VISION2 200T Color Negative Film 7217
I second that. My experiences is that with small gauge formats its smart to overexpose 1 stop or more. The grain and shadow detail just gets so much better.
test reel MPEG1, 8MB
mostly overexposed at least 1 stop. Inside metereing V2 200t @ ASA100, outside with 85 @ 64ASA. soe of the scenes are ...

Just out of curiosity what camera/lens was that 16mm shot with? What was it telecined with?
It was shot on a ARRI 16SR2 with a 9,5 mm HighSpeed prime opened at 1,4-2. The stock was a 120m short end from a TV production, my generous clapper loader still had it in her fridge. The scanning was done ...

For anyone who's interested:
MPEG1 extract reel edit 8MB
It's a few loose and unedited shots from my upcoming short film, shot on v2 200t, nizo6080. The film will be matted for 16x9 aspect ratio. The reel is still 4x3 and contains only selective coverage from some scenes.
Enjoy. Nico

We're using an old Nagra 4.2 on our current S8 short film project with phantom power supply and Sennheiser and Neumann microphones, what a perfect sound and robustness! Lovely. It never let us down, in snow and ice, at -5 °C, harsh winds etc. The preamps are really great, if you compare it to ...
