The Enlarged gate

We, I say we because we are a group of filmmakers in England. Most of us work in the industry, are are always submitting tenders to Broadcasters. We are all working with video technology in our day jobs but film is our passion.

Most broadcatsers are quite keen on using Super 8 especially for promos ...

Bauer 715 XL

I bought that Bauer 715XL, it arrived today and works!

I think the the top end of Bauers are great cameras. I have used an A512 for over 12 years and it always produced great images. I have never used a Cannon camera so can't comment.

I think its important to buy a camera that can be serviced or ...

Super 8 Xtra

The mutilation of the camera gate has been discussed many times before on this forum in particular its name. I know filmmakers in the 1970's who used this, they simply filed the gate as the makers of 'Sleep Always' did.

It is a hit and miss thing especially if the viewfinder is not widened too. It ...

bollywood

I don't think I was trying to be critical. Its just that I am from India and have worked in Mumbai. And it is quite a unique place to work in. Some people will try to take you for a ride - but thats the same world over.

The term Bollywood was made up from Bombay which has since changed from its ...

Indian Cinema

I just wanted to say my piece. Many Indians resent the western name Bollywood as it can imply an industry that is in the shadows of Hollywood. This is clearly not the case Indian cinema is diverse and its cinematography is truely remarkeable. Rather than Bollywood it should be refered to as Indian ...

film opinion

Just to clarify - First of all there are a few of us Tanya, Justin, Gabe, Jas, Pav and Pj and a few more as we are growing. We are all filmmakers and make a living making corporate videos which are almost always shot on DVCAM or Betcam SP.

Most of us are trained in traditional film that is 35mm. We ...

Bauer cameras and wide gate

I had a C 500 XLM a few years ago and widened the gate. Vignetting was a major problem, the lens barrel creeped in evey time I went into the wide angle mode 9I dont know what focal lenght that is i mean every time I zoomed out)

In addition to the C 500 XLM I have a Bauer A512 and a 715XL they all ...

In My Image

I saw this film at a friends a while back I don't wanna be rude but I am sorry to rain on your parade - the film is crap! There's no other way to put it.

It doesn't matter what the remastring is and so on. The camera work was poor the exposure bad, editing sloppy and the acting was awful.

On the ...

film copying

There's an article about film to film copying on http://www.thesuper8workshop.com. We have tried this sort of optical printing and the results are pretty amazing, the quality depends on the original frame and the projector and the camera used for copying.

The Super 8 Workshop

I agree with getting commitment from others like Kodak, maybe the Arts council and businesses like Pro 8. And thats what we are trying to sort out at the minute but memmbership is vital for getting these big guys interested. They need to see that something big is happening from where they have the ...

Constructive criticism at last?

Thank you for your coments I just wanted you to point out the redundant aspect of the site to me. I thought we were clear but we are filmmakers and don't have great web skills. I suppose when you have worked on a project so long you think it's clear all the time ...
